• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have an OCD regarding posting on this board.

Something like, if I post regarding issue, then I'll be exchanging away my salvation. Help!

-Hermit

I used to have fears like this. If I remember correctly, I was afraid that if I were to ask God whether I really was saved or not, then I would lose my salvation. (Or maybe I was just afraid that it was wrong. It's all fuzzy now...)

Regardless of whether this memory of mine is accurate, this seems very familiar to me. The fact of the matter is that OCD usually attacks you where it will most frustrate you. In your case, you're looking for advice and comfort from fellow sufferers of OCD. Because you would really be upset if you could no longer visit here and post, your OCD kicks in, and makes you start worrying that you would be giving up your salvation. (something else that is obviously very important to you)

My advice: keep posting, and try not to analyze the situation. Don't try to determine whether it's acceptable to post, or whether it's a horrendous sin. Just let the thoughts come, let the fears bounce around in your head without addressing them.

The way I deal with it, is I take a "whatever happens, happens" stance.

Basically, though, just don't feed your OCD by giving it all of your mental attention. It's rough stuff, the roughest thing that I, personally, have ever had to deal with. But if you can master this technique of "ignoring" your OCD thoughts, then things start to get a lot better. :D
