• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have a question. My OCD has been making me question my morals and is convincing me I believe in bad things. Is this normal for someone with OCD? And does God understand that I don’t want agree with these bad things?

Anyone (OCD or not) who recognizes bad thoughts need to ask for forgiveness and repent (turn away) ... ask Jesus to help you turn away from bad thoughts and/or actions.

and bad thoughts .... all have them ... not just those with OCD!

If you don't mind, could I ask a question? What sort of "bad things" are you worried you believe? Don't feel obligated to share if you're not comfortable. However, it might be easier to work through these thoughts if you articulate them.

Everyone has bad thoughts and everyone has experienced some false beliefs at one point or another. That is normal and a lifelong journey you will have to go through as you "work out your salvation". However, the excessive worrying about what if you believe things that are morally wrong; yeah, that's a super typical OCD symptom.

Please read the post 25 tips for succeeding in your treatment of OCD or look it up in Google.
The advice will help you cope with your OCD.

Do talk with your therapist about it and about your intrusive thoughts.

God knows you, he made you, planning you before he created the universe.
He knows that you have a mental illness, he knows the affect it has on you and he loves you more than anyone can say.

He sent his Son to save you, so there is no condemnation because your illness causes you to think, do or say things you don't want to.
