• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.”

after reading this verse I feel so scared since my mind convinces me that everything is a sin because of OCD even though I know it’s not a sin. I know these things aren’t sins but my mind still overthinks and doubts. But what made me even more scared was when I looked it up and saw someone say that if you do something that you have doubts over but know that it’s not a sin, you’re still sinning. I feel so afraid right now. I don’t have doubts about these things anymore but now my mind is telling me that since I had doubts in the past I’m still sinning if I do it now. I was really overthinking and obsessing over these things before but now I’m scared that I’m sinning if I do them now. I feel so condemned right now. Someone please help

Turn to the Gospel of the Kingdom, and hear what Jesus teaches His Disciples.

Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Read the entire chapter in context. What Paul is saying is that ultimately, God will be our judge. So don't argue and be judgemental over petty things.

"So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister."
Romans 14:12‭-‬13 NIV

The things you are concerned about are an example of the petty things that the church in Rome were arguing over.

As you have been told many times.
These thoughts that condem you, you just say or think, " Yes that is correct! " And move on.

Intrusive thoughts are not real, they are a product of your ocd.

If you are worried about having committed sins, tell God you are sorry for them, whatever they are, ask for forgiveness.
Then spend time praising God and try memorising this verse Peak 103:12
As far as the East is from the West, so he has removed our transgressions from us.

Remember it when you obcessing about your sin.

So it’s needed to be read in regards to other passages.

14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

King James Version

14 I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there isnothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.

19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. 22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eatfrom faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

I can’t rest either (fallen world). Always having to fight some stupid attack or other. I sin, I repent, I restored, I walk. Over and over. I find strength everyday to continue the fight. It bears fruit. It’s along tiring road but Jesus promises strength for the day and not to test us more than we can handle. Lighten up on your thoughts they don’t condemn us. Keep going to church and finding reality there. Idle hands are the devils workshop.
