Hi all!

I have a question. Recently, I stumbled across some really intriguing information regarding freemasonry, Luciferian, Illumanti, etc in the music industry. Examples of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye were all brought up. I'm not going to lie...it appears very blatant that a lot of these artists are into this devil worshipping stuff, and a lot of symbols are put in their videos, clothing, lyrics, etc. I struggled with this for a long time, because I love all these artists. But I decided I'm going to be very careful about what I listen to now that it's been brought to my attention. However, this isn't my question...

Someone on this message board brought up the point: "now what?" What do we do now that we know (or think we know) these artists are apart of the occult? Someone said we can't be ignorant to it, because those without knowledge perish and we have to be aware of all the evil in the world, and all of Satan's lies.

I get that and understand you must be aware, but do we really have to study Satanic symbols and *look* for these things in the world? For example, someone posted a picture of Spiderman and said the occult symbols were in that as well. Personally, I don't care to see everything evil in the world, but I also do not want to be ignorant to the evils of the world. Although I could've sworn it was in the Bible that God didn't want us to be all knowing of Satan's ways? Maybe I'm wrong, but if someone could help me out with that verse, I'd appreciate it.

I'm just thinking: once we've been convicted of something and we have our beliefs that something is "off", do we *really* have to keep studying it? Or is it done and over with? I don't want to perish from lack of knowledge.

I did ask my grandmother about the situation, and she said to leave it alone. Because if you're studying the occult and all it's symbols so you're able to spot them out anywhere, you're going down a dangerous road learning about all that stuff. So I know what her opinion is, and I just wanted some opinions here as well. I posted this in WWMO as well. Thank you!

Someone on this message board brought up the point: "now what?"

We ask for direction and guidance from the Holy Spirit, and not from popular Christianity. Just because someone's work doesn't directly glorify God doesn't mean they worship the devil either. They maybe simply devoting themselves to, or promoting self worship. Which in of itself is not worshiping in the occult.

That said, most of the lyrics in popular music does not promote a Christian life style. So I believe it's not something one looking for a strong relationship with God should feed themselves spiritually, but at the same time if we look to "Ban" everything not "Christian" we ourselves become proud elitists and pretty much useless to God. (kinda like the things we are avoiding) The modern day equivalent of a Pharisee, So worried about preserving our own idea religion we forget to have dinner with prostitutes and tax collectors, from time to time. Or even worse our lifestyle places us in a position so that we can not seek out and save those who really need God.

Learn to Live and exists in this world, but do not become apart of it. (this is done with a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit.)

I think when you see satanic worship symbols in Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye's work your looking too hard. Now they may not be the most wholesome artists, but I wouldn't call them devil worshipers.

Although we do not know the hearts of men, I would basically agree with this statement. It is very obvious that these bling-bling types are very strung on the "things of this world" and lusts of the flesh, but I don't really see any satanic rituals going on there. Yes, treasures of this world are very much focus' of Satan, but really how are they any different than anyone else who isn't saved? They just make more money and have more fame doing it. Remember, you were once like this too.
I think you can see evil in most things and if you really really look at what you want to, "satanic symbols" in just about anything. Doesn't really mean its there, but Im sure you can find it.
Reminds me of mother Theresa in the tortilla or the shape of Elvis in a cheeto

For me, I don't listen to music that degrades women, constantly talks about sexual immorality, violence, drug abuse or claim that God does not exist. Everything else, is fine with me. But I've been listening to a Christian radio station here in L.A. 95.9 The Fish. It's very uplifting and very positive.

There is music and parts of culture that are blatantly satanic/occult in nature. Those artists there, I cannot say for certain if there is anything occult/satanic about them. I know a great deal of people in Hollywood have embraced odd forms of spiritualism that definately go against the Gospel. It's not that you need to study Satanic symbols, you just need to test things with the Word of God. Of course you need to understand what the enemy is like and how the enemy operates in this world.. but as it turns out: That is in the Bible too! YAY! Learn the Word of God and test the things of this world with it. You'll be ok. Plus, listening to secular music isn't going to cause you to become possessed. Enjoy the music, if you disagree with a song, skip past it.

Also, take the advice of your Grandmother.. don't invest much time or effort into studying the occult. The more interest you invest into the enemy, the more interest they invest in you. They get curious as to why you are poking around so much.

Satan at work in the entertainment industry?????? You have got to be kidding!

You mean you actually believe stuff like this..1 pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

It's not like the music industry has any real influence in the world today is it?

Put two and two together.

You can only serve on master. If they are not serving the one true God I ask whom are they serving?

I know it's really hard to dump music you have loved. I burned 200 albums approx. after I got saved. I have made the descision to only listen to Christian music. There is plenty of Good Christian music to take the place of this junk. I suggest the Fish(listen on the computer) also or Klove. Christian CDs. I commend you to being open to God's leading in this matter and willingness to judge between good and evil in this matter. (Hebrews 5:14) I have a friend on Imeem who has an article on this subject. If you are interested let me know by a personal message.

Okay...capnator and Live in Stereo, I never said I didn't believe that stuff was in the music industry, nor do I need to only listen to Christian music. In fact, I said I did believe it. The question I had is: do you continue to look for these issues, or when does it come to a stop?

Keep in mind, this same thread I read said it's in ALL music. Including Christian...take what you want from that because apparently not all "Christian" artists are really Christian, and it's also on TBN. This whole thread is intense and according to these people, it's EVERYWHERE. Even in Kellogg's commercials. So unless you're not listening to ANY music, or watching ANY TV, you're looking at it.

So I wanna know when do you say "Okay, enough. I'm not looking for Satanic symbols" or do you always want to be aware? I don't WANT to look for these symbols, but I don't want to be ignorant either.

Okay, maybe I explained it better now. LOL.

Thanks to everyone else who answered as well!

Of course the music industry has real influence. Just look at the guys went on the Columbine rampage. They were into some dark stuff. People like Black Sabath has been known to integrate chants on their tracks that are supposed to summon demons and demonic activity. Don't fool yourself. It is possible. That is unles you don't really believe in true evil.

I can't answer anything about the Occult, but I would say that in general, most of the artists probably do not have any kind of relationship with God. You do not need to "study" anything about the Occult, because Satan is sure to slip something in your drink if you do, however subtle it may be. Rather, it's best to pray and ask God for discernment, and trust that when something is not right, God Spirit, or the Holy Spirit will let you know.

With that, it can simply be said (and even I have trouble with this) most songs simply don't have anything to do with God period, or music in general. It's not as though the artist are outright trying to create music agaisnt God or anything, they simply write and sing songs that are sad, or reflect what our culture really values. For instance, when you're sad or have a break-up with someone, you can easily think of so many songs that would be "just right" to sing huh? But, (and I STILL have trouble with that example myself, now) God wouldn't want us to sit there and keep singing a sad love song. That traps us in the past, and makes us sad, and overall hinders us.

Know what I mean?
