Possession vs. Obsession

In this distinction we see the basic difference between the new and old covenant.

Under law we can none but obsess;
Under grace we can none but possess.

And yet, under law the world grinds on. Waiting long for some appointed rest...

But will it come?

OBSESSION
Ah, rest from the law! To rest from the obsession for life in its fullness; harmony with animals, plants, spouses and waistlines, bosses, the weather, retirement, death.

We each obsess to no longer obsess. We each attempt to outrun our own sinful momentum leading to death and hell.

"But will my will exist in darkness?
Is my calm toward death a guilty bribe, inviting any judge by passive grit to quit, acquit, or right resist my just desserts?

And out of time with all my feeble frame,
the task is burned in two, refusing song in lover's tune. Instead of grasping after soon, the brute offended lands by crime the hasty throe."

Okay, psy. Yes. Okay?

Ptltptltptltptltpl.

How about I put it in question form:
If we were to think of possession as the opposite of obsession, how should we define possession?

Or

If obsession were the 'name tag' we used to refer to our general state of incompleteness (or at least the feeling of incompleteness), how would (anyone who cares to answer) define 'the opposite of obsession' -- which I am name tagging 'possession' (for the sake of simplicity)?

If substracting the pretty creative name tagging, the question appears to be:
What is the opposite of "general state of incompleteness"?
And I guess the answer is:
"General state of completeness".

Is it possible to possess all that the new covenant carries with it (and if boiled down, what practically would that look like),

Or because of the nature of human fallenness/ incompleteness are we (as under the old covenant) doomed to the state of obsession inherent in a fallen world?

To quote a shark, where's the creme filling?

Philosophically, if any worldview is not a possession of the fullness of the new covenant, it is useless and simply one more fruitless failure of the old covenant.

It is my personal hope that there is something to be found in Jesus' fulfillment of the old covenant and therefore his right to institute the terms of the new covenant, and that the state of obsession in mankind in general can thus be replaced by "possession" of all the new covenant realities.

With no wait time, or it's still yet another form of obsession...

In Luke 12:31...''seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.''

If you are a Christian, and believe this with your whole heart...then, yes. I answer 'yes' to your question.

You must be pretty smart to have been able to follow all that!

Lol! I could be completely off base, but that passage is just what came to mind.

Now that I'm more awake today, I reread what he was saying and it looks like your response was pretty much on target!

I suppose the opposite of obsession would be apathy or disinterest

In my world, everyone is a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies

That's very nice.
