  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It helps to show the passage the thread was based upon.
The thread was based on "as you measure it, it will be measured to you", which I put in the OP. There are many parables with this theme, as it was a focal point of Jesus' ministry.

Makes me curious about the parallel and correlation with moral objectivity.

..."it comes down to the heart" is an aphorism really. Whose heart ?
In my case, my heart. In your case, your heart. "Out of the heart, the mouth speaks".

Heart as in emotions, feelings, passion ? Determination ?
Yes. Heart as in motivation. "Where your treasure is, your heart will be also."

Where is the center of heart-morality ? Why are some hearts God-like ?
Selflessness and love. Some people have a greater measure of this from birth. It is their gift. Others (ahem...like me!) have a much longer road. Always, it comes from our Father. "...whoever loves has been born of God and knows God."

God's laws cannot be changed by man, man simply lacks the power and authority to do so ! God' s ways (His nature) do not evolve or become less stringent or allow greater tolerance. This is the peril in subjectivity. Man wants to change God's laws to suit himself. Man does not want to be fenced in by God's restrictive commands, so man shakes his fist at God and mumbles something about freewill or "why have you made me thus" ? God never changes and neither does God's law, ordinances, commands, etc. What laws has man changed ? Rather, which laws does man believe God no longer enforces ?

Which laws?

why does it only have to be grace or law?

I treat my body and or flesh like it is servant and under law.. so that sucker won't do death and kill my spirit..

I treat my spirit like it has no law.. and is only full of his grace..

learning the difference between my flesh and my spirit and his spirit is what takes sometimes years to figure out . making sure my flesh doesn't kill my spirit or his spirit in me is the real issue here and now.

sorry you can not treat your flesh with a kind of grace you hope he has for you .
or confine your spirit with laws made by men.
learning the difference takes time and is a process.
so hold in one hand that you are a son of a living God who is loving and awesome full of mercy and grace.. and in the other hand that you are a servant of the Most high and your flesh had better be deemed dead or you at least not meeting it's demands. .. because both extremes are 100 % true.
