But Obama hasn't lost too much support in spite of what everybody already knows. Republicans, maybe, will be more inclined now to actually get out and vote against him. On the other hand, OHB has lost no momentum at all among committed Democrats, and his support among independants remains strong too, althoug Mcain's number here too are not too shabby.
At least it is not so much of a slam-dunk anymore. The controvery at least had that much of an effect.
For Whites, voting Obama still offers a chance of redemption for the sins of racism, and for Blacks, it is a matter of Black Pride.
That is all understandable especially for Democrats, one supposes, and maybe not all bad either-although God help the person (Geraldine Ferraro, perhaps?) who actually mentions such things.
In the long run though, America's willingness to tolerate the racism of blacks is likely not a very good idea either. There are proably a thousand and one reason why not.
