Despite claims of an anti Obama mandate, voter apathy was at a new low in 2014.

Voter turnout in the last election was the lowest since 1942

Mandatory voting will not spark an interest in the political process among the people who do not vote now. It is a bad idea.

Just my opinion based on how little effort even regular voters seem to put into their choices. Kool Ade drinkers are on the verge of bringing our government to a standstill. Mandatory voting will (IMHO) result in even more partisan pundit pandering (the three deadly Ps of the political process) and our government will look like the choices made regarding what it on network TV


Popularity rather than discernment will rule the day. Justin Bieber could maybe get elected......
