That article was written a year ago. Before the classified documents. Before the J6 special counsel. Before all those Trump supporters lost their subpoena fights. As the author notes, "the criminal law is a blunt tool for achieving justice and a poor means of resolving political issues." All people are asking is the scales of justice be the same for everyone.

It's also an opinion piece.

The Atlantic writer acknowledges Trump is guilty of most if not all of what he's been investigated or impeached for but believes he will never be held accountable.

I agree that it may be impossible to find twelve impartial jurors, although considerably easier in the city where people have put up with his antics for decades and who voted for his opponents by something like an 85% margin.

If justice is impossible, we might as well put a MAGA hat on the statue of Lady Justice.
