  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Someone like me will apply the minimum amount of force to help them, in their best interests.
If I injure them, I will then treat that injury.
Not out of hate, but love.
Is death an acceptable possibility?

I believe that the very finger of G_d scratched the words into a slate "Thou shalt not murder" Exodus 20:13 / Deuteronomy 5:17.
I know this as in Australia there is a very well known war crimes case of a commando NCO executing a POW.
There was the allegation that some new recruits into his unit were 'blooded' in this way.
I needed to know for myself how I would have responded if forced to do this.

I'm talking about those who resist arrest and imprisonment. If you can't kill them and they violently resist and avoiding death is your first responsibility then to avoid death of the criminal. What should be done? Are you opposed to all violence?

So you'd want a society without prisons?

I have an I conclude that your view misrepresents Christ as ordering us to be pacifistic and unable to enforce order in society. Most understand that this view is unsustainable and therefore can't argue for it.

The same God that commanded us not to murder also commanded the Israelites to execute criminals for certain crimes.

Obviously no one is sinless but if the law will not be enforced? Are we to live in an anarchy and advocate as such?

Obedient Christians live under the law as interpreted by Jesus now.
And does that law mean being helpless in the face of evil doers? Utterly passive because of the fear of using force against those who would do evil?
