With the New Cold War era heating up people, (especially Christians) are becoming increasingly nervous about recent events developing in the Middle East over the last six months. Iran has a sweet Nuclear Deal that doesn't allow U.S. inspection of suspected sites, and many believe Iran will have a nuke in less than two years.

In June 2015 U.S./Russian relations take a nose dive as the Russian backed Ukrainian civil war continues and U.S. surveillance planes flying over international waters in the Black Sea are challenged by Russian fighter planes. Days later, Russian President Vladimir Putin is disinvited from attending the G7 summit in Geneva, Switzerland.

In July 2015 as large numbers of Russian ground forces move toward the border of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin threatens to use nuclear weapons against NATO if the West tries to intervene in the Russian backed Ukrainian civil war. NATO immediately responds by forward deploying a "Fast Reaction Force" of thirty thousand ground troops, artillery and main battle tanks closer to the Ukrainian border. This force is later joined by twenty F-22 advanced (nuclear capable) stealth fighter bombers, and the U.S. threatens to redeploy intermediate range nuclear missiles to Western Europe removed at the end of the last Cold War, (CNN News July, 2015).

Three months later, thousands of Russian Spetznaz (special forces) troops are on the ground in Syria, joined by Iranian Republican Guard and Hezbollah terrorists ostensibly there as our (allies?!) in the War on Terror fighting ISIS. Hundreds of advanced Russian fighter planes and (night capable) Hind Attack Helicopters, (dubbed the flying tank) join the ground troops. Off shore the Russian forces are supported by a Typhoon Class nuclear ballistic submarine, the heavy guided missile cruiser "Moskava" (also nuclear capable), as well as China's new aircraft carrier the "Liaoning Jian". Also in September, China makes a deal to supply Iran with four hundred of their advanced J-10 (F-16 equivalent) fighter aircraft, (CNN News, Sept. 2015).

On October 1, 2015 Washington and NATO accuse Russia of concentrating on attacking anti-Assad forces in Syria while ignoring ISIS. Then on October 11, Washington accuses Russia of attacking and killing U.S. advisers on the ground in Syria supporting the ant-Assad forces, (CNN NEWS, Oct.11). Does anyone seriously still believe Russia is our ally in the War on Terror ?!

In January 2016 Russia sends a fighter aircraft into Turkish airspace and the plane is shot down by Turkey, Russia expands their operations to include Iraqi territory and takes possession of a major air base 25 miles west of Baghdad. Syria now bristles with Russian surface to air missile batteries, and ECM (Electronic Counter Measure) installations have popped up on mountain tops in Southern Syria to block U.S, NATO and Israeli surveillance in the country, (Debkafiles). What is going to happen when Hezbollah terrorists in Syria start launching rockets into Israel once again ?! The supreme leader of Iran (The Iatollah) publicly calls for renewed attacks against Israel.

Russia is now in a poised to stop Israel and the U.S. from building a natural gas pipeline from its' "Leviathan" gas field in the Mediterranean to Turkey, thus breaking Russia's stranglehold of natural gas supplies to Western Europe.

By my estimation, SAC (Strategic Air Command) has gone from DEFCON 4 (Normal) to DEFCON 2 at least four times in the last six months. At DEFCON 2 America's nuclear bomber forces are flown to within 1,500 miles of Russian airspace (Fail Safe)and wait there for the attack codes to be issued by the President of the United States. Time till bomb drop is less than three hours. DEFCON 1 is Nuclear War. The missile silos are opened and they launch, along with naval forces worldwide. The Apocalypse.

In July-September 2015 another disturbing event took place called operation Jade Helm 15. Thousands of elite military troops dispersed throughout the South Western United States in nine states to remote locations far away from major cities and existing military bases, in what the U.S. government alleged were combat training exercises for future overseas deployment. (Question). Why would they be training off base in remote locations on civilian owned land, when combat training has always been traditionally carried out in the past on land reserved for military use ? (Answer). They wouldn't.

Jade Helm 15 was a "dress rehearsal" or drill for the dispersal of U.S. ground forces nationally in the event of Nuclear War. The special forces units have prepared the ground and systems necessary for the two million ground forces that will be dispersed in the event of war. All you have to do is take a look at where they dispersed to and compare that to a Nuclear Fallout map from the 1970's. The Book "Nuclear Apocalypse" is a good place to start, but it's a dreary read and it gets rather technical at times.

Homeland Security wasn't created to combat Terrorism in the USA either. Their offices are located in every major U.S. city, and their job is to act as the command agency when all civilian law enforcement and emergency services are federalized in time of war. There is no plan to evacuate U.S. cities. The civilian population will be forced to shelter in place. Most police and fire departments have already been issued radiological dose (rad/per hour) pens and meters to read the pens. If the interstates and highways are suddenly shut down, and you see cops wearing these radiation dose pens.. Well it's DEFCON 1.

You also may see naval ships leaving harbors in a mass exodus if you live in a port city. Low flying military aircraft will also be scrambling to rural civilian airports where runways have been extended in the last couple of decades to receive them. Of course all your friends in the reserved armed forces will be throwing duffel bags in their cars and driving away like a "bat outta hell". Other than that, there won't be any announcement on television or radio warning the American public of what's coming.

This thread is open for people and Christians to discuss plans for how to survive the Coming Nuclear Apocalypse. In it, I will also reveal the Scriptural proof that makes a case for at least a "limited" nuclear war during the Second Half of Tribulations (The Great Tribulation Period).

My purpose is not to spread hysteria or sanction militant anti-government ideology in this thread. If you want to talk about how to get yourself killed during the Apocalypse, please start your own thread and talk about it somewhere else. I hope what you read here will help you and other Christians to prepare for and survive what is shortly about to come upon the whole world.

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36, KJV).

There will be no 'nuclear apocalypse'. What the Sixth Seal worldwide disaster will be, is a Coronal Mass Ejection sunstrike, instigated by the Lord, triggered by the commencement of an attack on Israel, that will literally fulfil all the graphic prophesies about the terrible Day of the Lord's vengeance and wrath:
Ezekiel 7:14 They blow the trumpet [of war] and make ready, but none go to war, as My wrath falls upon them.

Isaiah 24:1 Be warned: The Lord is about to strip the earth.... everyone will be affected. Luke 21:35
Isaiah 24:13 So it will be throughout the world, among all the nations.
Obadiah 1:16 All the nations must drink of the Cup of Wrath.
2 Peter 3:10 the sky will dissipate and all the earth will be brought to judgement.
Ezekiel 7:2-9 The end is coming, it will affect all the earth.
Isaiah 66:15-17 The Lord will judge with fire and test all mankind. All the wicked will die
Isaiah 34:1-5 My wrath is upon all the nations. My sword appears in the heavens, it descends in judgement.
Psalm 50:1-3 The Lord speaks and summons the world, sending consuming fire and storms.
Zephaniah 3:8 The Day I accuse the whole earth, it will be enveloped by My burning anger. I will pour out My wrath upon the nations.
Jeremiah 25:29-33 I am bringing punishment upon the inhabitants of the world. Ruin spreads from nation to nation from a worldwide mighty tempest.
Ezekiel 30:2-3 A Day of reckoning for the nations. All the Middle East lands devastated.

Habakkuk 3:12 Furiously You traverse the earth, trampling the nations.
Isaiah 63:2 ...I trampled the nations in My anger.
Psalm 77:18 Your arrows flashed around the world.
Psalm 97:2-5 His lightning flashes light up the whole world.
Joel 2:11 All the nations are in anguish.
Isaiah 30:30 The Lord shakes the nations in a sieve of destruction.

Revelation states that unless Jesus Christ returns, "NO flesh will be saved".
Revelation states that unless you receive a "mark", you will not be able to buy or sell.
You are jumping ahead of events. You refer to the time of the Anti-Christ and the Great Tribulation, just prior to the Return of Jesus.
What all the scriptures quoted in #2 refer to is the great and terrible Day of the Lord's wrath, the Sixth Seal worldwide disaster by a CME sunstrike.
My point is that there will never be a nuclear apocalypse, all that the Bible prophets tell us; Sixth Seal, Gog/Magog attack, Armageddon, is sent by God.

"Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8, KJV).

The idea that many theologians seem to share that Satan desires to "Rule the World" is absolutely preposterous and totally unbiblical. The Devil's hatred for human kind is so visceral, so savage and so complete, he won't STOP until every last man, woman and child on this planet are completely exterminated. Just as 1 Peter 5:8 says, the Devil is a predator and his prey is mankind.

Why do I believe in a "Nuclear Apocalypse" ? Simply put, Conventional Warfare alone cannot explain the destruction described in Apocalyptic Prophecy. The Bible says, at the time of the end God must intervene "Lest No Flesh Be Saved", (Matthew 24:22). Futhermore, the Revelation Prophecy says, God shall destroy those who "Destroy the earth", (Revelation 11:18).

There's only one weapon on this planet that has the capability of bringing mankind to the brink of extinction and can Destroy the Earth, and it isn't a conventional weapon. As horrible as Conventional War is, it hardly has the capacity to make man extinct or destroy the planet. During the entire Second World War, only 3% of the world's population died. That means 97 % of the world's population survived WWII. Satan couldn't destroy all of humanity in a world war using only conventional warfare, even if it lasted a hundred years.

There is only ONE kind of weapon on Earth that has the potential for the kind of destruction described in Apocalyptic Bible Prophecy, and it is "Thermo-Nuclear" weapons.

Let me put the destructive power of a modern thermo-nuclear weapon into perspective for you compared to a atom bomb. The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were equivalent to 20,000 tons of tnt. A horrific and unprecedented explosion to be sure, but in both cities there were people who survived the attack.
A modern thermo-nuclear hydrogen bomb explodes with a force of two hundred million tons of tnt. Everything within a 50 mile radius of ground zero is vaporized and turned to ashes. There are no survivors. A MIRV'ED (Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle) ICBM can destroy three cities simultaneously, with a 150 mile diameter (zone of complete destruction) in which nothing will survive the fire ball.

The largest ballistic attack submarines (the Russian Typhoon Class, and American Ohio Class) carry twenty (to (twenty four in the Ohio Class), SLBMs, half of which have MIRVED warheads. It would only take ONE of these submarines to completely annihilate a country. From launch to warhead detonation, would be measured in minutes.

There are also smaller "battlefield nukes" in the 1-2 kilo ton range (Hiroshima size) weapons deliverable by artillery and tactical aircraft. Just south of the DMZ between North and South Korea, tactical nuclear mines await any invading army from the North. These smaller tactical "battlefield" nukes will probably be among the first nukes to be used in WWIII. because their relatively limited and surgical destructive capability offers greater flexibility than simply ordering a full scale nuclear exchange.

Engagement between naval forces using "surface to surface" and "subsurface" weapons (such as ASROC missiles and Torpedoes), as well as tactical air from carriers also presents a very high potential for the initial use of nuclear weapons. Once hostilities begin, because of the split second nature of naval warfare, commanders are given extreme latitude in the use of nuclear armaments to protect their commands.

Even tanks now use "Uranium Depleted" ammunition. Russia has produced an .50 caliber anti-tank rifle using a depleted uranium round that can penetrate the turret armor on an M1 Abrams Tank. The residue left behind by these weapons when they impact a target are "poisonous".

There are also a number of highly classified nuclear weapons (such as neutron bombs, micro-suitcase bombs, and space based nuclear weaponry) which can not be discussed in detail on this public forum for obvious reasons. However, it is public knowledge that some 25 countries now posses nuclear weapons. The USA and Russia have around 7,000 warheads each. Israel has between 80 and 100 nukes.

Soon the Ayatollah of Iran will have a nuclear weapon, and he will be able to deliver the Iranian people to PARADISE through nuclear annihilation by attacking Israel, according to his twisted interpretation of the 75th Surra "Al-Qiyamah" "The Last Judgmment" of the Koran, he will be bringing the Iranian people to salvation.

"We haven't just been idly waiting for the last seventy years for the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse to Arrive, We've literally been paving the Road to Hell he's going to ride in on".

Yes Stephen,
We know about the world's nuke arsenal. But a nuke war isn't what the Bible prophets tell us will happen.
What the Lord will do, will affect the whole world, Isaiah 66:15-16, Zephaniah 3:8, 2 Peter 3:7, whereas a nuke exchange in the Northern hemisphere would affect us 'down under' economically, it may not be noticeable to us at all. I suggest you look at: http://www.ecology.com/2014/05/01/earths-greatest-threat-cmes/ for the means the prophets tell us the Lord will actually use. Isaiah 30:26, Malachi 4:1, Psalms 50:1-4
God will not allow radiation pollution of the Holy Land, but there will be an explosion in Shinar. Zechariah 5:11 [Shinar; now South Western Iran]

Now you understand the scope of the threat you're facing, it's time to discuss a "survival" strategy. The first decision you'll have to make is whether to plan for "sheltering in place", or "evacuation". If you live in a city with a population over 50,000, or you live within 100 miles of a major city or a military base, I believe the decision has already been made for you. You have to plan on evacuation. These areas will not only be targets, but the civilian population will be confined in a densely populated area with dwindling resources. During Hurricane Katrina, (which was the closest thing to the Apocalypse I've yet to experience), everything was gone off store shelves within hours. No food, no candles, no medicine, no lamp oil, no batteries, no toilet paper, no generators, no nothing. The situation just 100 miles away from New Orleans was still pretty bad, but not as bad as being trapped in New Orleans.

Another problem with planning on sheltering in place in a city, or "forting up" (as I like to call it), is the danger of running afoul of the local authorities. In all wars, everything of strategic value is either confiscated or rationed. During the Second World War (even here in America), being found in possession of more than was allowed under strict rationing quotas was an act of sedition, punishable by up to two years in prison and a two thousand dollar fine. So if you're planning on sitting on a hoard of food and supplies in your home, you can expect Homeland Security to come knocking on your door eventually. I believe the Olivet Discourse (which describes the Tribulation Period), says something about Christians turning on other Christians, (Matthew 24:10), doesn't it ?! So you've been warned.

This isn't the 1970's anymore. Remember the Homeland Security Act. Everything, everywhere is being surveilled. I advise, if you go inside any retail store to buy survival "supplies" for a stockpile against the Apocalypse, you limit your purchase to small quantities, pay in cash and leave anything with a magnetic strip on it (credit cards, library cards, work i.d. and drivers license), in the glove box of your car. NEVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING OVER THE INTERNET.

Absolutely, under no circumstances, tell anyone what you are doing. No one should know, or even suspect you are a "survivalist". That means no internet chat, no tours for friends showing off your supplies, no target practice on the weekend with your buddies, no browsing through survival magazines on racks in grocery stores, no phone conversations mentioning words like "ammo, food stockpile, or survival". I'm sure most of you have heard about government programs like "Carnivore" and "Echelon", that monitor civilian communications collecting information on possible "subversive" activity. They're real and they're compiling information in a huge NSA (National Security Agency) computer facility that covers several acres just 25 miles south of Salt Lake City. What am I doing posting this stuff on the internet ?! I'm already on the NSA list and have been for decades. I made every one of these mistakes myself.

Actually, as I said before, I prefer a "bug out" plan to the strategy of "forting up" in a city. I have a backpack I keep handy with special supplies I'll need to evacuate. Later in this thread, I'll list those supplies for those who are interested.
Your evacuation plan will need to include a destination where shelter (and I mean something with reinforced concrete, not a cabin), and sub service water (a well) are available. Maximum distance, forty miles. You'll want to be able to get there quickly. Temporary shelter which also offers protection along your path of travel should be identified, (such as derelict concrete grain silos, underground concrete culverts or unused train tunnels, all make decent temporary bomb shelters).

Once you arrive at your shelter destination, you can start planning for "long term" survival. How to obtain supplies. How to remain undetected. What to do about security. And of course the all important "alternative" plan of where you're going to go and how you're getting there, in the event you are forced to evacuate once more.

Am I making these plans out of some irrational "fear" ?! Certainly not. I am making them because of the sure and certain knowledge of what is coming. And you should be making them too.

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all those things that shall come to pass, and stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36, KJV).

True Dat.

The weapon is sin.

In the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, God will destroy the destroyers of the earth. How do they destroy the earth? Just like they did in the days of Noah? Like in the days of Lot? By filling up their cup of sin, the transgressors reach their limit. And they provoke the wrath of God.

"And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. But the end result is the same, no flesh saved alive. The only reason for flesh to be saved alive is so that we who are alive and remain will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then the Rider on the white horse kills all the remaining wicked (destroys the destroyers of the earth) with a sword (command) that comes from His mouth. And the end result is the same, no flesh saved alive.

"I will completely remove all things From the face of the earth," declares the LORD. "I will remove man and beast; I will remove the birds of the sky And the fish of the sea, And the ruins along with the wicked; And I will cut off man from the face of the earth," declares the LORD.

“And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.

"and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth.

"And a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

"and a third of the sea became blood.

"A third of the living creatures in the sea died,

"and a third of the ships were destroyed.

"and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.

"A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

"and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.

"So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month,
and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

"The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea.

"The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood.

"The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire.

"And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.

"The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.

"And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found.

"And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

I'll take a thermo nuke any day. Do not fear those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Survivalism is for the secular people and all those preparations will not do them any good. Amos 9:1-4

We Christians have the promise of God for protection during His terrible Day of wrath: Joel 2:30-32, Acts 2:19-21 Have your spiritual self ready, don't waste time and money on guns, food, and u/g shelters.
That Day will be our test of faith
, 1 Peter 4:12, stand firm and pray for strength to escape, [be protected from] all that is coming, for that Day will come upon everyone, the whole world over. Luke 21:34-36

I'm Catholic, and generally we don't take much interest in the Last Days stuff. If it's going to happen, then it will happen and there won't be a lot you can do about it. I also suspect it would be a waste of time building personal shelters against nuclear war. What the hell would be left that was worth surviving for?

Having said that I suspect Stephen583 is probably correct in that he expects the cause of most of the alleged destruction to be nuclear weaponry. It certainly has the potential, and these days there are too many nations which have these weapons. At least the Cold War enforced a certain amount of discipline on client states, on both sides.

Personally if I had to predict nuclear wars, I think there would possibly be two - the first limited, and I'd put my money on a limited nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan. They've been steadily ramping up their nuclear armouries over the last few years, and it would be interesting to see what would happen if Pakistan found itself with a fundamentist Islamic government.

I'd later expect an all out war, but I won't go into discussions about which nation I think would be the main culprit, as I'd be laughed out of court. And as I said earlier, if it's going to happen, there won't be much we can do about it.

I do have one other train of thought. I said I'm Catholic, but I used to be Presbyterian. At that time I had a wise old pastor who wasn't much into eschatological discussion. Most of this stuff originates from American sources these days, whereas the Europeans, who have had a much longer experience of Church history, don't think the same way. The pastor thought a lot of the American eschatology was a "bit weird".

But he did make one interesting comment. He thought God intended to drive us off the planet, and that we'd learn to teleport. Now he made this comment circa 1990 or 1991, as he died in 1992, and hasn't made a comment since, if you'll pardon the black humour.

At that time there was no teleportation, but since then there have been a number of successful quantum teleportation experiments. We're a long way from teleporting massive items, but Dr. Robert Goddard's primitive liquid fuelled rockets went about as high as a telegraph pole in 1923. In 1969, just 46 years later, liquid fuelled rockets put man on the moon.

The space race moved a long way in a short time. And I think we'll do the same with teleportation, which is instantaneous, and not bound by the speed of light. There will be a hiccup when we have to work out how to quantise the soul, but we'll get around that as well in due course.

But there was one other comment he made viz. "I think God might be doing something to the sun." Bearing in mind the hoopla about climate change lately, I wonder if it's really all up to CO2 levels, or if God just might be doing something to the sun. If so, He's been pretty subtle about it. But if He made it fierce enough, then that also might explain the apocalyptic imagery in the latter parts of Revelation.

And as I said He made that prediction circa 1990/91. Climate change wasn't the headline stuff then it is now. But sure enough, it's getting warmer, with NASA saying 2015 was the warmest year since recordings began.

http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=87359

Once again, if God's getting in the act as well, there won't be much we can do about it. But if He is, then He just might be starting to stir the 'bowls of wrath'.

As Revelation states, Gog/Magog (Russia?) will start WWIII.
There isn't going to be any teleportation.

One thing everybody can do immediately is run down to Best Buy and get yourself a radio that can receive short wave english language foreign news broadcasts. Television, print media and radio news in the United States stopped any timely coverage of international news stories years ago. As for the movement of U.S. ground and naval forces overseas, forget that completely, it ain't happening. Please spare me the lecture about national security, because there's no reason to keep military information from Americans that's being broadcast by the BBC and Al Jazeera Radio every night, except to keep the American public like uninformed "mushrooms sitting in the dark".

The BBC has been talking for months about the Apocalyptic wave of Middle East refugees that will begin swarming into Europe through Turkey in the next three months when winter ends. They're talking about a wave of refugees four times the size of the one in September 2015. European politicians are calling it the "greatest displacement of people since the "Second World War", and say the flood of refugees threatens to destabilize Europe to the point of "economic catastrophe and collapse". (end quote).

The first news I saw in the U.S. media about the coming "Wave of Refugees" this Spring was published in USA Today Newspaper yesterday, 1/24/. The article only described numbers and had nothing to say about its' possible impact on Europe's economy or political stability. Based on what I've heard elsewhere, I'd have to characterize the rather brief and deliberately uninformative story in USA Today as being very dismissive, vanilla journalism, on what could be one of the biggest international stories of the coming year.

So if you want to be sitting at the mall drinking a "mocha latte" and texting your Face Book account to chat about Donald Trump's latest antics when the bomb hits and you're turned into ashes.. Well that's your choice, isn't it ?! Sorry you care so much about the "things of the world", you'd rather die than do without them John S. That doesn't sound anything like Christian theology to me though, (1 John 2:15).

I'll have already heard days ago through the BBC that U.S. naval forces have entered the Black Sea and NATO is getting ready to move against Russia and the Ukraine. And believe me, I'll be "long gone".

By the way, If you're not so concerned about being caught on the government's radar, the Israelis are world renown for their intelligence gathering capabilities and are happy to share their information on what other countries are doing. Russia, China, The United States, North Korea, NATO, (the list goes on). I check the Debka.Com website every couple of days. You'll read about things on that site you never knew existed.

If you don't believe the U.S. media is controlled. Ask yourself the question why the U.S. imbedded news media journalists in the first and second Iraq War didn't report the patriot missile systems were performing so poorly. The story didn't come out until a Congressional Investigation determined "long after the war", that the patriot anti-missile system was only intercepting scud missiles less than 50% of the time. Don't you think those journalists got wind of that story while they were there being threatened by Scud missiles ?! Of course they did. And they sat on the story just like good soldiers are supposed to do. Can anyone say, "COVER-UP" ?!...

If you're relying on the U.S. media for real news, you might as well be living in the Soviet Union in 1969 and be reading a copy of Pravda.

Yes. I agree completely, sitting in a bomb shelter for days or months would be psychologically disastrous. But a bomb shelter, is only for when bombs are "dropping". If you've reached a remote enough location, surviving a nuclear blast won't be a problem, and only an idiot would sit inside a bomb shelter indefinitely for no reason.

Cabela's Sporting goods makes a four man and six man "teepee" tent in olive green, that has two screened windows on either side and a front as well as back entrance. The top of the tent has a screen as well and allows for additional air circulation and comes with a rain cover that clips on. With an overhead clearance of more six feet, you can put on your pants standing up, or sit comfortably inside on a folding camp chair. I've tested this tent in four foot snow storms and I assure you it stands up fine. The peaked and sloped teepee shape actually stacks the snow up on the sides of the tent very neatly. Cost between $99 and $150 dollars, either through Cabela's or you can get used tents on Ebay.

The olive green material makes this tent very attractive from a security standpoint. Hit it with a couple of rolls of black and brown tape to break up the silhouette, add some brush to the sides, (Don't collect it from the immediate area, remember no closer than 200 yds. away). Bingo ! You're just about invisible.

I've used this tent camouflaged in this manner and camped on BLM land where I stayed for nearly four months. The limit is 14 days. After that you're required to displace at least 30 miles. And believe me, the rule is rigorously enforced. Of course, they can't regulate what they can't find, or most particularly can't see. Just make sure you know exactly where your camouflaged tent is sitting, and make it back to your tent before dark, or you're probably going to end up sleeping on the ground, because you can't find the tent in the dark.

Next post. WHAT TO DO ABOUT RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT.

I'm not going to lie to you or soft sell this, because radiation is going to kill an awful lot of people. Direct gamma radiation emitted from the bomb in the form of a wave of energy, and later the radioactive fallout will both be deadly. Hopefully, if you've evacuated away from any target, direct gamma radiation won't get you. However, radioactive fallout can spread for a thousand miles and show up from just about anywhere. People in Georgia will be killed by the fallout from a bomb that detonates in Houston, Texas. Lots will depend on prevailing winds and the jet stream itself. Topography will also effect the spread of fallout. Mountains may block some fallout, or a process called atmospheric inversion caused by nearby mountains could actually turn a safe valley into a death trap.

How do you tell if radioactive fallout is present ?.. Everything smaller than you will be dead. Squirrels, birds, fish, worms, frogs, everything dead. You'll get sick too, really fast. Then you'll die suffering a horrible death. I'm not going to describe the process here, because it's a bit too gruesome for a Christian chat forum. If you're curious, just "google" radiation poisoning symptoms. There is basically no treatment if you are exposed to over 600 rad/per hour for several hours. Geiger counter equipment and radiological meter pens are very expensive. Knowing your rate of exposure won't save you anyway.

If you suspect radioactive fallout is present, seal the door with plastic and duct tape and stay in your shelter as long as you possibly can. Rain doesn't wash fallout away, or purify air. Once the radioactive particles seep into the ground, they will contaminate subsurface water. Without water, you'll last maybe three or four days. If there is fallout outside your shelter, you probably won't get far enough, quick enough, even using a vehicle, without receiving a lethal dose of radioactivity in the process. Escape isn't a possibility. Sorry.

The only practical solution or strategy ? Prayer. And lot's of it. Don't forget to include a Bible in your supplies.

Heheh. "Yesss, yesss, come to the FEMA concentration camp where we will, eh, 'teleport' you to heaven..."

Stephen, may I remind you: this forum is a Christian forum, aimed at understanding and promoting what the Bible prophets tell us will happen in this Church era and especially at the end of this period.
None of your posts above, where you describe a nuke war and what we should do, is Bible based at all.
Even Zechariah 14:12, which many construe as the effects of radiation, isn't that at all but it is a plague sent by the Lord against any nation that fought Him at His Return to earth for the Millennium reign of Jesus.

WHAT TO BUY FOR FIELD RATIONS AND LONG TERM FOOD SUPPLIES

In your backpack, you'll want to keep weight to a minimum. I refer to these provisions as "field rations". They are designed to get you from point A to point B in X amount of time. For carbohydrates, nothing beats Rammen Noodles, (.25 cents on sale). Remove from store packaging, crush and reseal in a zip lock bag, (buy the good zip lock bags with the sliding seals, not the cheap ones that open in your backpack). You can produce boiling water by hanging a plastic drink bottle suspended by a string, over a small fire, (ole' boy scout trick). If you can't risk the fire, add water to the zip lock bag and leave it setting in direct sunlight.

Low Sodium Spam in plastic pouches make an excellent gourmet field ration. When Stalin was asked what America's greatest contribution to winning the Second World War was ?.. He answered, "SPAM" ! Tuna in plastic pouches also makes a good source of protein as well. A half dozen packs of individually sealed crackers turns your spam or tuna into a feast.

You'll want some dried fruit in re-sealable pouches for potassium and fiber. As well as some energy bars and granola which provide a source of proteins, fat and carbs without cooking.

Beef Jerkey makes a fine addition, but it's generally pretty expensive and might not be worth the cost as a field ration.

Don't forget the "Gummy Bears", (Seriously). If you've never experienced a low blood sugar headache or lack of energy from extreme exertion.. Well, you'll have to learn about it the hard way, won't you ?!

Yes. You'll need water, but you'll also be wise to include some sports drink such as Gatorade to replace electrolytes and minerals. Include some Pepto Bysmal in tablet form in your field kit as well. Getting loose bowels will definitely slow you down and leave you unable to continue. That's medication and not rations, I know. And I will discuss medicines later, but the "Pepto" goes in your field pack and it is IMPORTANT. I will discuss what other equipment to include in your field pack in a later post.

LONG TERM FOOD SUPPLY SUGGESTIONS

For long term rations which will be transported in your vehicle, or stockpiled in advance at your shelter site I recommend the following. Dried beans are fantastic, although they do require lots of water to cook. Not a problem if you have access to water locally, which you should. Include some already cooked canned beans in case you're unable to reach water for some time. Bullion cubes are better than canned soup as far as weight is concerned. If you do include canned soup, make sure it is "Low Sodium", so you'll need to drink less water after meals. Pasta keeps well unrefrigerated, and plenty of powdered sauce variations are available in paper packet envelopes. Jars of sauce are o.k. too depending on the availability of storage space.

Cans of tuna, potted meats, diced meat, vienna sausage and chicken spread will add some variety to your meals and keep virtually indefinitely. Crackers work as a practical substitute for fresh bread. Powdered milk, dehydrated mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese are good staples.

If you include cereal. Make it whole grain with fiber. Forget the airy sugary junk food cereal. Grits and Oatmeal.
If you want to get really fancy (and you have the money), they now make bacon and liquid or powdered eggs that don't require refrigeration. Canned fruit juices are great if you have the room. Potatoes are best left out in a shady airy spot outside, they last longer than potatoes shoved into a dark place. Do not store onions together with, or near anything else. Don't forget condiments and spices for cooking like salt and pepper. Stock lots of salt. It is a trade good.

Vinegar can be used as an astringent, mild topical pain reliever (for burns, sunburn, ect.) Taken orally, It can relieve heart burn and help with chest congestion. Cloves of garlic are also good. Garlic has anti-biotic properties and is called "Russian Pinicillin". It's mentioned throughout the Bible as a cure for just about everything. Applied topically to an abscessed tooth, it should provide relief almost immediately. However, the garlic will burn when it's applied to the gum.

Some liquid bleach may also come in handy to purify questionable water. Two drops per gallon. Leave the jug in direct sunlight for at least a couple of hours. Wash your dishes and eating utensils in purified clean water, not dirty ground water or water out of a stream, or creek, unless amoebic dysentery sounds attractive to you. If you don't know what that is, it feels like having a large knitting needle shoved into your belly button while Hulk Hogan wrenches it around in a circular motion. It can kill you.

Buy in large cans and containers if you are feeding more than one person at meals, however remember to include some smaller cans and containers of food in the event you need to put together field rations, or for trade purposes. NEVER TRADE ANYTHING TO ANYONE ELSE, THAT CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU OR YOUR FAMILY AS A WEAPON. NEVER ! NO EXCEPTIONS.

Don't forget to include a manual can opener in your supplies. AND NEVER KEEP ANY FOOD ITEM IN YOUR TENT, EVEN IN UNOPENED CANS. FYI. Bears know tin cans contain food from digging in garbage, and they can smell tin.

Sorry Keras, but in my opinion your criticism is blinded by your own religious views. I stated at the beginning of this thread exactly why I believe Nuclear War is tied to Bible Prophecy and End Times events, If you don't accept that it's one thing.. If you're saying I should close this thread because it doesn't agree with your particular view of theology, that's another. THIS AIN'T IRAN, AND YOU AIN"T THE AYATOLLAH. So we won't be closing any threads today. Thank you anyway.
