Shining God's Light for a Lost World.
halifaxhoney said:I've always been a Christian and I have sinned. Sometime in our lives I believe that there is always a temptation that we fall in to.
In the past four years I've made some posititive changes to better my life and be a better Christian. I cannot be perfect. I don't have regrets because the things that I've experienced in my life have allowed me to learn valuable lessons that I will never forget.
I've had pre marital sex, had a lost year do to drugs and fallen into the wrong crowd and was a mean person for most of my teen years.
That changed going on 4 years ago.
However when I was trying to give the benefit of my experience here it came across a negative reaction.
Now I'm lost I've always believed that God forgives, that he wants us to learn lessons and share them with others. I guess not.
Every single one of us as Christians fall into temptation. You're right in saying "nobody's perfect".... because we won't be until we get to Heaven and see Jesus face to face. But, we also have to be STRIVING for it.... if you are honestly doing your best, then you are on the right track. God knows every heart.
The Bible says, in 1 John 2:1, "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
But note that it says "if you sin", and NOT "when you sin".... that means that we don't go out expecting to sin. But all of us have our areas where we are weak. If we slip in any of those areas, that's where the Holy Spirit comes in: His job is conviction. When we feel guilty, that's God saying that we did something we shouldn't have done. When we ask God's forgiveness, and He will forgive. Then, our job is to try not to do it again, and move on in our lives.
Hope this helps.
