Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There is an issue of concern brought upon me as I stood there somewhat listening to the dismal dull lectures in a geometry class. I found myself questioning the existence of an after life. I began by asking if there is truly a heaven or a nirvana if you may, and if there is not then why must we live fearing our every action, our every word, hoping that if we behave and live according to a book then we will be granted a long and awaited ticket into a heaven where your every blissful wish is granted. Was this just another clever ploy conjured up by a wise being that would frighten all future generations into praying to a vacant god for all we know? Or is it truly a place that can be achieved by staying pure in mind and by having a loving soul? Nevertheless it seems that this grand afterlife is begining to fade as year after year passes and generation after generation of hamburger stuffing mindless youth booms all over America.

Peace sisters and brothers for i must depart~

2 things-

1) your thoughts are a main part of agnosticism. There might or there might not be an afterlife and god so why not just live a morally decent life and see where you end up?

2) No need to go raggin on America there at the end....unnecessary and gives you a less than pleasant image

Just because you live a good life doesnt mean you will go to heaven. You must have an intimate relationship with God and fallow him. If you just live a good life you'll end up in Hell because walking an old lady across the street doesnt impress Jesus when he has lived a perfect life on Earth. Staying pure in mind and having a loving soul is nothing to Jesus. He died for us by him your saved. Don't think your secure by living a moral life.

If you don't mind, the rest of us can decide if we want to live a moral life just fine. Going to church doesn't make you any closer to God than anyone else.

I think thats the whole point. The worrying if everything is true or not. God wants you to overcome that and to overcome the desire to lead an immoral life. Also I think that you should want to lead a moral life. I think God is watching to see whether we make the right decisions, whether we will fight any want of immoral pleasure and sin and continue to follow him.

Also just a little fact. Aliester Crowley (big time Satanist) wrote a book about Satan (he said that the devil gave him the words for it). The key quote that he said Satan gave him and also the basis of the Satanic bible is "Do what thou wilt" which basically means "do what you want". It is the devils way of getting people to turn against that fear of God and that struggle to be what the Lord wants us to be. With this fact at hand, why would you want to turn to living life doing things immorally?

God Bless.

Regardless of what you believe one should try to be good for the sake of being good, not for some reward. Improving oneself is a reward upon itself, while doing so for the hope of happiness or enlightenment is only selfishness, and neither of those rewards will be found.

What's missing from the equation is grace. It's the love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It's a free gift. I wouldn't look to the culture in America for truth-these are dark spiritual times. It seems you feel burdened by the reality of sin-that's what the cross is for. Please feel free to PM me if you like-it would be a privilege to discuss it with you.

But I do feel concerned about the way you ended your post. Is everything okay? Because it doesn't sound like it. Talk to us. Or, if you like, come to the Struggles and Recovery forum in the Edification section. There are a lot of really supportive Christians there, and debate is not allowed. It's just for getting encouragement and discussing a wide variety of issues.

Just don't give up.

Blessings and grace,
Whitehorse

Doing what you want doesnt necessarily mean living an immoral life. I pretty much do what i feel like, when i feel like it, but i dont go around blatantly ignoring the consquences of my actions. "Doing what you want" and "doing what you want w/ conscience" are two different things.

I can't really define the "Do what thou wilt" quote entirely. But obviously enjoying life in the Lord is doing something you want to do in a lot of ways. I think that Crowley meant basically doing whatever you feel like without any concern for God or the morals that the Lord wants you to live by. So yes I think it does mean immorality. Satan doesn't want people to do the Lords will. He wants us to give in to temptation and not be concerned with what will happen later.

If going to church makes you a christian, does going to your garage make you a car?

Heaven/Nirvana can be expirienced right here and now..... By being virtuous and content with what you have. Don't strive for more, this leads to immense suffering (as a Buddist you should know this) when you have truly learned to let go of desires and just let things happen then you can be happy, this is heaven/nirvana. The feeling you get from this "letting go" will be carried over to the afterlife. Don't live now for the afterlife, it will come soon enough, create it here, be honorable.
The "grand afterlife" seems to be fading because no one sees it as attainable here and tends to forget about it, years of indoctorination have taught some that without being perfect there isn't a chance, so it's written off as unattainable. That is so far from the truth our Christ, himself said:
"All men will be judged by the works of their heart."
Blessings
