  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Me and my husband have been listening to "Absolute Surrender" by Andrew Murray, I would like to share a couple of nuggets from the book- PTL :amen:

- God requires absolute surrender from us in order for Him to answer our prayers.
- He wants us to have complete fellowship with Him, so in other words- we should be in right fellowship with Him for Him to reveal His will to us and also have a heart that is humble, tender and quiet.
- If we want Him to reveal His will to us we should also be in a right relationship with Him.
- He also reveals His will to us if we wait patiently before Him, if we wait upon Him.
- He keeps on repeating "the fruit of the Spirit is love".
- the indwelling Spirit wholly renews the indwelling life.
- love conquers selfishness, so when God's love comes into us, He takes it away
- we need overflowing love, claim "God is love"
- the power of the H.S. is needed to bring love into our hearts. We cannot do it on our own.
- "God fills us with His love"
- We must always confess our lack of love

- love is the only real power in which we can do any real Christian work.

- we must enter in a covenant with God. (special relationship, agreement).
- yield yourself to Him, give everything over to Him, he will work it out in His timing.
- if we deny ourself He will come in.
- the Lord maintains (preserves, keeps, guards) our absolute surrender.

Dear sister UnceasinglyPray,

Wow! Those notes are really rich! I was very touched by our need to have a heart that is "humble, tender, and quiet" in order for God to fully reveal His will to us. May our dear heavenly Father, through His Holy Spirit, grant us such a heart.

-the Lord calls us to be "separated unto this world" So we must live totally for Him!

-a person who is totally separated unto the Holy Spirit is a man who wants the H.S. to have total dominion over him (in his home, feelings toward others, every thought, and every word on his tongue).

-We are simply to be faithful in obedience, carrying out His orders. He has a plan for His Church among earth. Unfortunately, we too often make our own plan and we think that we know what should be done.

-we have not learned "to fully wait upon Him" enough to fully know His will.

-But God can only reveal His will to a heart that is humble, tender and quiet. God can reveal His will in perplexities and special difficulties only to a heart that has learned to honor and obey Him loyally in little things and in daily life.

-it is necessary for us to take time to humble ourselves before God, and ask Him to humble us under His mighty hand. Man, woman, brother, sister, you are a worker set apart To the HS. Is that true? Has that been your longing desire? Has that been your surrender? Has that been what you have expected through faith in the power of our risen and almighty Lord Jesus?

-it is not only in the beginning of our Christian walk, but all along, that we need to have our strength in prayer.

- if we were convinced that our only strength is found in abiding every minute with Christ , every minute allowing God to work in us- if that were our spirit, wouldn'tour lives be holier? Wouldn't they be more abundantly fruitful?
