  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [KJV]
There are times in the life of Christians when we must learn to lean on the Lord for understanding. There are times when we ask the question, " Why God? I don't understand. During these times we must learn to trust the Lord and not our own understanding.
I'd like to tell you a story about a mother and her deaf child. This is a good illustration.
In the state where we live there was but one school for deaf children, a residential school some fifty miles away. When she turned four years old, she was accepted into the school. She could not hear or talk at that time and knew no hand signs. To go to this school was the only chance for to get an education, but could we give her up?
When the time came to go, we got her ready for the trip. We were unable to tell her where we were going or why. She packed quickly for she loved to travel, but became quiet when she saw the rest of the family had no suitecases.
At the school we brought in her clothes and pointed to a small bed that was to be hers, she became more anxious and distressed. She held on to us with all her strength and began to cry. We felt our hearts break. We could not say," We love you". We will be back in a couple of weeks. You will be coming home this summer. She did not understand why this awful thing was happening to her. Fighting back tears, we loosened her arms from around us, and gave her to the supervisor.
It was perhaps the most unselfish, greatest act of love we ever did for her. Painful as it was to her, it was also very heartbreaking for us.
I am sure God must sometimes wipe away a tear of pity for our struggles, saying," I wish you could see the reasons now, but you can't."

When you don't understand why, understand who is in control and put your trust in him. Doc
