  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there ever a day in your lives that goes by without you praying?
Is it necessary and commanded that we pray every day even if we don't "feel like it".

Yes- I struggle to keep my prayer rule- and I fail miserably sometimes. Our goal is to learn to pray without ceasing. The scriptures say, 'Let everything that has breath praise the Lord,' and we're supposed to be part of that too.

We all know, like positive and negative forces of an atom, there are Christ-positive spiritual forces against Satan-negative spiritual forces, and prayer obviously means seeking solutions to problem life circumstances that are somewhat cursed. We Christians are faced with personal and world influences that are not Christ-focused:.
Naturally our Lord Jesus being ever-present spiritually in our hearts hears our criticisms, stress-related issues, negative emotional reactions to circumstances that we know, or perceive to be, un-Christian: such as business competition where businesses are selling similar products and yet have to fight for their customers that are both price-competitive and quality-competitive:.
I must remind myself always that my royal status as "joint heir with Christ" means that I inherit the land as all Christians do, but this inheritance of Christ is not recognized in a society that is still bonded to atheism and false religious worship.:
That's why our persistence with faith in Jesus will have to be bold as each day passes in these challenging world circumstances. Jesus will return and end poverty and homelessness, especially racial inequality where one nation appears to be far superior than others when it comes to military and government power - it's a coin toss between Russia and United States .;'*';.

Prayer doesn't have to be formal.

Whenever you direct your heart or thoughts towards God and
share with Him your concerns or love, you are praying.

I pray on and off all day long as I direct my heart and thoughts to
the Lord as I ask Him for His help in my life and the lives of my loved
ones as I share with Him that I love Him and appreciate all He has done for me.

If prayer is a work for you, then you are not yet in a place in your life
where you have opened yourself to God as a friend, a loving Father and
as the one who loves you more than any other could.

Pray and ask your Heavenly Father to help you to come into a deeper
relationship with Him.

Ask God to help you open yourself and your thoughts up to Him so that
you will not feel like prayer is an unpleasent requirement but is instead a
rewarding privilege in which your reward is having a wonderful and loving
relationship with your Heavenly Father who loves and cares for you deeply.

*Yes, there are days when I don't say an actual prayer.
One can be in an attitude of prayer, mindful thankfulness of
the Lord, His provisions, guidance, protection etc.

So even though I don't always "feel" like praying, I know to put on
a prayerful attitude.

Psalm 139:23
"Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!"

Honestly, If I had to wait to "feel" like praying, a lot of time would pass.
It's best to pray at all times. Praying doesn't have to be formal,
long-winded, nor do you have to repeat the same old phrases.
Praying is talking to God.

As the saying goes:
"7 days without prayer makes one "weak".

Warning!
The adversary prowls around looking for those he can devour.

I believe anyone who answers honestly would have to say that there is at least the occasional day over the span of a life that is void of prayer.
Prayer is for communicating with God, both learning and understanding His Will for us and for our request of Him. We are not commanded by Jesus to pray every day but we are command to seek and love the Lord with our whole heart, soul, and mind therefore, if we are doing that then not many days will pass without communicating (praying) to Him for His guidance and direction in life.

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV)
37 Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

We are created to worship God. All creation worships God. Worshipping and praising God, and giving him glory, must be our everyday experience, because that is why we were created first of all. Yes, we do have a loving relationship and fellowship with God, but the most important prayer is worshipping God.
Also, thanking God for what he gives us or does in our life, is the second important type of prayer. All other types of prayers should be left after that, like intercessory prayer, petitions, asking God for things and others.

The greatest pleasure for the Greatest, is to be recognized as the Greatest, by the worship of his creation, the lesser. We worship God for who he is as a person, his character, nature and attributes. We praise God, for the great things he does.

It is called a sacrifice of praise, because you leave your things, and go and do God's things, worshipping him. God does not exist for us, but we exist for him.

Probably not.
Is it necessary and commanded that we pray every day even if we don't "feel like it".
Daniel believed it was worth doing three times a day even though he knew he could be killed for it.

Nope.

There's no command in the Bible that says "You shall pray every day", but there ARE verses about praying for your "daily bread" (which indicates you're asking for it daily), and "pray without ceasing" (which doesn't mean pray 24/7/365 and never do anything else, but it does indicate praying often and regularly). When you put it all together, it's clear to me that God wants us to come to Him every single day.

Well my view is we won't go to hell for not praying every day. I do try and pray every night though. Sometimes the prayers are shorter then other nights because my mind can't think of what to pray for sometimes. Or I forgot...or any number of reasons. Having a brain injury doesn't help.

BUt God understands I don't remember things as it is.
