Not handling deployment well...

Big sigh...hubby and I both met while deployed so I understand deployments better than most. However, I'm not handling hubby's deployment this time very well. It's so much tougher with two children and knowing that I won't be seeing him for 16 months or so. Even with our two children, I feel so alone right now.

Anybody else have a spouse deployed right now or just have some words of comfort?

Hello OreGal. 16 months is a long time. I'm not in your situation, but know what's it's like to miss someone. My son just returned from a year in Iraq. He's my only child, so it was a tough time. But you know, looking back....the year flew by so fast. I did a lot of praying and read the news too much. Saturday he gets to come home for 2 weeks leave.

Hopefully your husband will be able to stay in frequent contact via the internet. Maybe you and kids and he could see each other on webcam. That would excite the kids, I'll bet.

Thank you so much. We have our webcams set up and will get to talk a bit which is good. I hope and pray this time passes quickly. I don't much like being a single mom

Aww... I'm so sorry that you are going through this rough time, OreGal. I couldn't agree with BarbInArk any better. She's right... just continue to pray and stay positive. I'll be sure to add you and your husband + children in my prayers. Out of curiousity BarbInArk... is your son's name Kevin? I doubt it is.... but it never hurts to ask.

Oh Barb, thank you so much. We're doing okay just a bit sad. I need to change my little icon guy. I'm over my cold now. I think the toughest issue right now is our two year old. She is just so mad at daddy and acting out quite a bit. I think I just need to work on just trying to spend more time with her during the day and just loving her.

Thank you so much for asking. I am still just hopeful that the next 14 to 16 months just fly by.

I put my arm around a guy who cried because his baby was being born while he was in Kirkuk, and another friend put her head on my shoulder and cried as her son grew up without her there.

So I haven't been through it...but I'm a good listener
