David -- I'm new to this disscussion and I don't even know if you are still around. I am curious though, what does your wife want from the marriage? What is she feeling about the possibility of separation? Does she want you to stay? Might she be happier as a single woman? Perhaps she would be happier as your "sister." I am curious about that aspect.

I think a marriage is not legal unless it is consummated, and hence can be annulled.

This is my take on the matter. The Bible says the man and woman will leave the parents and cleave to each other. If they never cleaved, are they even married on a spiritual level? No, only with a white piece of paper from the courthouse, which probably should be anulled. Unless the wife is willing to begin having sex with her husband, this marriage is doomed.

Technically I think you're right... marriage is covenant and if there has been not act of sex then covenant has not been cut. What happens about the vows though?
