  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As few as I can.
For a day hike I usually just carry a fanny pack with water, sunscreen and my lunch or snacks.

When we're backpacking I carry about 20 pounds. My Dad has invested in a lot of ultra-light gear and he's a real ogre about not letting us take along anything we don't absolutely have to have with us. (I think that's a throw back from when he and my mom were first married and he'd end up carrying a bunch of her stuff because she got too tired... )

Have you ever been backpacking?

yes, at the end of the year in kindergarten. Had a harder time than the other kids, I guess because I'm left-handed and it seemed like they were trying to teach me backwards.

That is so neat!!! Someday I hope you can go on that trip to Prince Edward Island.

Favorite childhood memory: going to see my grandpa, him hugging me, playing checkers with me, etc., etc. He was WONDERFUL.
