  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I saw it with a friend. I thought it was good, but not especially scary, but it really scared my friend. I think it's odd what frightens some people, but not others.

Fear, like humour, is a highly subjective emotion.
I can sit and watch films with beheadings, amputations, dismemberment, and a number of other ways to dismantle a human body and never get sick or grossed out.
However, show me a scene where someone gets an injection or has to sit in a dentist's chair and I'll be crawling the walls to get away from it.

If you can find it watch The Black Cat. It stars Lugosi against Karloff as rivals carrying an ongoing hatred for each other.
And Lugosi plays the hero!

i love the black cat.....isn't apart of poe's 'tales of terror' colection they made into film?
There are several different films under the title The Black Cat. One of the more well known versions was directed by Roger Corman and stars Vincent Price. That may be the one your thinking of. It was part of a series of films done for Amercian International back in the 50's and, the majority of them were based, somewhat, on E.A. Poe's stories.
The version I'm talking about was released by Universal Studios in the 1930's and the connection it has with the original Poe story is that Lugosi's character has a phobia caused by black cats.
Otherwise it is a completely original movie. The two main characters are still carrying hatreds caused by betrayals from the Great War. Karloff betrayed Lugosi to the Russians and then stole his wife. Now released from a gulag, Lugosi's character is trying to hunt down Karloff's character and seek vengence.
It is a tight psychological thriller dealing with how far a "good" man is willing to go to see justice done and how hard a "bad" person will go to overcome the mistakes of his past.
