We are reformatting our computer tonight and then I am getting new antivirus software, I am curious if anyone knows anything about Norton Internet Security or Norton System Works?

I suppose I'm not sure what either does, or the pros and cons (my husband just saw them and bought them) I want to install one and return the other, but I want to know which is best?

We have a lot of trouble with our web browser getting hijacked, and I want to stop that!! I also just want a better protection set up all together as I spend a LOT of time on the net (with classes and just cruising forums and all)!

Thank you for any help!

i use them, and i find them very good products. what version are they 2003 or 2004?
i personally think that 2003 is the easiest to work with, i had some troubles with 2004. bu once its setup properly its great. (sometimes too good)

but in saying that i dont think they stop you browser getting hijacked, they do block most sites which are known for hijacking browsers, but there are too many out there to keep track of.

if your worried about your browser being hijacked, try switching to Mozilla Firefox Browser.

I use both Norton Systemworks 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2003 (which I'm due to upgrade here next week) and I love them. You will hear pro's and cons about Norton being a great antivirus and you will hear that it slows down your computer. My thought on it is this, if it's protecting me fully then it's worth the slow down.

I use Norton Systemworks mostly for the use of Norton Antivirus, Ghost and Speed Disk and the One Button Checkup. Ghost is a backup utility, Speed Disk is like Disk Defragmenter (except you can defragment more than one drive at a time), and One Button Checkup removes/repairs invalid registry entrys and shortcuts to keep your system running smoothly. Norton Antivirus is pretty self explainitory.

I use Norton Internet Security as my firewall, but it also comes with Norton Antivirus.

In all honesty, You probably only need the Norton Internet Security unless you want the Systemworks for the other features.

Thank You all :)

I don't like using Mozilla because it loads much much slower than explorer, and with a SLOW dial up connection that makes surfing the net no fun :(
I have used Mozilla Firebird and Firefox (same thing, just the name change) and I'm on cable and it is so much slower opening and loading, that's why I don't see what all the hype is with it when IE works a whole lot better

NIS is one amazing Programme - It's the only Antivirus programme I will ever use.

And if you have at least 512 MB or RAm then you won't notice a slow down at all.

I use Opera as my main browser and I find it faster than either IE or Mozilla Firefox.

The hype about MFF is that it's less likely to get hacked than IE.
