North and South Korea agree to form their first joint Olympic team and march together in opening ceremony

The two Koreas agreed to form a combined women's ice hockey team to take part in next month's Winter Olympics in PyeongChang in the South next month.

Seoul's Unification Ministry says the agreement was during talks on Wednesday at the border village of Panmunjom.

It said athletes from the two Koreas will march together under a 'unification flag' depicting their peninsula during the opening ceremony.

There is quite a bit more information in the article below about what has to happen in order for them to be allowed to do this. So if it doesn't happen this time it may not be because the two countries couldn't work it out between them. Let's hope it's a good thing either way it goes.

Similarly, merely agreeing to field a joint team is a NEW development.

Now this travesty. Does anyone really believe this is meant to change anything?

That North Korea will treat it’s citizens better, or cancel their nuclear aspirations, stop the US demonizing propaganda to their own public consumption ?

Of course not. It is the same raise stakes then de-escalate and try to wheedle some concessions from people who have been given false credit for looking like they actually did anything.

Trump may take credit for this short term, but long term this will blow up on his face when North Korea does something that upsets international community again.

No beef. The Korea unification flag was first used in 1991 shortly after Reagan had effectively ended the cold-war by bringing down the communist world. Korean Unification Flag - The Flag Institute
