Now you're talking...

More proof for this lies in the fact that many of the Eddic prophecies are coming true:

Voluspo: Stanza 45
"Brothers shall fight | and fell each other,
And sisters' sons | shall kinship stain;
Hard is it on earth, | with mighty whoredom;
Axe-time, sword-time, | shields are sundered,
Wind-time, wolf-time, | ere the world falls;
Nor ever shall men | each other spare."

Sound familiar? Verily we are in the end times... woe to the christians and atheists alike.

And there is wisdom in the eddas, more proof of divine inspiration:

Homavol: stanza 5
"Wits must he have | who wanders wide,
But all is easy at home;
At the witless man | the wise shall wink
When among such men he sits."

I think everyone will agree that wits you must have if you're going to wander alone, only a God could think of that.

Plus if the Aesir aren't in charge why are most of the days of the week named after them?

Is there a Yaweh day or a Darwin day? I don't think there is...

And what's better out of a stinking monkey, some dirt or a noble strong beautiful tree? More proof.

I'll end with a part of my favorite hymn

"I will lead the charge my sword into the wind
Sons of Odin fight to die and live again
Viking ships cross the sea, in cold wind, and rain
Sail into the black of night magic stars our guiding light..."

Well, the most obvious difference is that Judaeo/Christianity has factual historical roots that run for thousands of years prior to Norwegian Nordic folklore. Add to this that Christianity surpassed this religious belief and survives to this day----unlike a very human Oden and a cow he obviously did not create. On top of everything, is the realization that both Christians and nonchristians have been able to investigate much Biblical data and have found it correct in detail. The items of contention have never been proven to be in error. Flood investigations are ongoing, and concerns of an old Universe are real. No one is doing any scientific research into the truth of the Nordic Creation stories. This is not true of Genesis. There is NOTHING wrong with explaining to students that such research is happening, who is doing it, what they have discovered, who opposes it and why. At the very least it fall under scienticic history----as does a discussion of Darwin.

Today's religion is the future's mythology. Don't worry - hindsight will be 20/20.

P.S. That "impressive" list of facts found in the bible include the mentioning of some real places and events. I'm totally floored. And using this logic, I've concluded that the Illiad is historically accurate.

I guess you are speaking of evolution when you speak of "Today's" religion.

Let me be the first to say:
HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew this would start as a great parody and then a creationist would take it seriously! For the last 200 years, all the evidence of every investigation undertaken by christians and non-christians alike has pointed toward the conclusion that no flood took place, no garden of eden existed, and the whole exodus is bunk.

Such research is happening because some people have money and time to waste and would rather hold on to antique stories of snakes talking and angels smiting than spend time using their brains. We should explain to students that a bunch of half-retarded chimps with a well-funded PR machine are trying to sabotage their biology education. Please, direct me to one "creation science" paper that's been published in a respected joural. Just one!

I really, really love posts like this. Anyone else feel this way?
