  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't really know that much, but I have 2 pieces of advice.

1) Take lots of photos. You won't get better unless you take photos, and learn from the photos you take.
2) Learn about your camera. Whether you have a digital camera, a point and shoot, or an SLR, you can make the most of what you have to work with by learning about the limitations and abilities of the medium you have to work with.

There should be some decent photography sites around the net, if you don't get any better advice here. But I suggest you just go out and have fun. :) (not trying to be denigrating here) I used to hate photography, and I never owned a camera of my own until I was 19. I started off with a point and shoot camera, then bought a digital camera, and then built up from there. I recently bought a SLR camera to play with as well as my okay-digital camera. You can only use what you have, but you can make the most of what you've got. :)

Good luck, have fun!

The two best ways I know to get good knowledge about photography are a good class in photography and/or joining a photography club. A general art class can be more beneficial than a class that just tells you how your camera works. If you are a self motivated reader, you can also learn a lot through books and magazines.

The most important skill is to be able to self evaluate your work. What could be better about a photograph? Are there distracting elements that could be eliminated? Is the angle as interesting as it could be? Does the background help or hurt the picture? Did you allow too much, or enough motion blur? A phtographer paints with light, and some can be every bit as careful as a good oil and canvas artist.

While good photographers take lots of pictures (sometimes an astonishing number to get the right image), just taking lots of pictures could ingrain some bad habits. Good photographers make conscious decisions about exposure, depth of field, shutter speed, and composition. Too many just rely on the camera, and hope that one of their pictures looks good.

Just have fun and experiment! That is the best piece of advice that I can give you, and I know that for sure, because that is the advice I received! Take lots of photos, and I mean lots...with a digital camera, it is virtually free to take pictures, so go wild! I hope this helps!

GOD BLESS
