  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It is strange behavior to me. Maybe because I have always had a boundary between my church life and dating. Meaning I would never come-on to anyone lady in my church. It is always very Brother-Sister platonic. Just like I have never dated anyone from my workplace. I maintain a professional distance.

So you don't believe in dating Christian women? or they have to be from a different church? Church used to actually be the center of people's social lives. It is where you met your spouse. They even raised money by "selling" box lunches at events where the single women made a picnic meal for two and the men bid on each box and the right to eat the meal with the maker of the meal.

Of course I believe in dating Christian women...have never dated anyone from my own church. Come to think of it...no one in my immediate family has either.

We have socialized with people in our own church but never dated them. Very close friends but that is as far it has ever gone. That has not been a problem because of the huge number of churches here. This is not the Bible belt but there are a huge amount of churches between Boston and New York. You are talking about the number one (NYC) and number six (Boston) largest cities by population in the United States.

Not to mention the nearby cities such as Hartford, New Haven Connecticut and Providence Rhode Island that are also fairly large. So this was never a problem.

Actually we never dated anyone in our Denomination either. The reason was because of who we were...or more accurately, who we were related to...a State Bishop was our Grandfather. He was a well loved Bishop. This caused us to be in a fishbowl too much. So we always maintained our privacy by setting boundaries. It's difficult to fully explain if you haven't lived it but. But it was very similar to being a Grandchild of a very high-profile celebrity, politican, etc.

We lived in the Northeast and his diocese was in the South East but that did not make a difference because everyone knew who we were...even if we went overseas. It is still like this in 2015!

You would think that gave us an unfair advantage. Well it would if we allowed it to. However we were more low-key and like to get away from all that.

So that is the abridged version Black...I had to cut a lot to save space and prevent you from falling asleep… :)

So who do you date and marry? and how well do they assimilate into your church & beliefs after the marriage?

There are plenty of people from other churches available to us. Not to mention the various Christian groups, associations and social gatherings around.

Think workplace...many of us guys would never ask out a woman from our workplace. Others would say that restriction is foolish. I guess we all have our boundaries.

Thanks for sharing your story, OGM. I'm just not of Boston ... so your not too far from me.
No problem...like I said, that is the condensed version. However I hope it does help illustrate the whole boundary issue. I like boundaries because they eliminate certain problems from popping up.

I like the New York - Boston corridor. Large variety of people and activities.
