  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Half of all my posts are in the Debate forum, but I have decided to take a 30 day break from debates and just post in other threads, like that one in Singles which is a chat thread, in order to clear my mind. I might still debate 1 on 1 with the right people through PM - it's not really debating in itself that I dislike, it's people's general reactions to things. Plus I just don't feel Holy arguing with people when the overall subject can usually be summed up as "Is cheese a winner or are Jedi?"

Anyone want to join me?

I am also going to see about turning my Followed Threads notifications off to not get alerted to Debate threads where I posted.

You bet'cha!!

How r' yu?

Pretty good. Thanks for asking. I joined the forum on Tuesday. I guess the forums are pretty cool so long as you keep certain things in mind.

I have a backlog of video games and ebooks to get to. I tend to buy video games and ebooks in bunches, then play them when I have the time.

Welcome to CF. :)

What brings you here?

I joined the forum by accident in a sense, but have stayed here.

I thought I could talk philosophy among Christians, but most people just want to talk the Bible. It's okay though.

Glad you found your way here.....

Threads like this one, that you started, is a great way to meet members you might not normally run across on such a huge forum.

It seems like it might be a fun thread.

:D

To reintroduce myself, I am a person with mental health issues that are being treated, I come from a weird family and a weird past. A very good debater who understood the Bible and many other things, is the reason I'm not an atheist. I believe in God and the Trinity, but am also careful about just what I believe. Doesn't mean I'm right though. You can call me Edward. I named my username after a philosophical idea of Plato, and my avatar is from a Wii video game.

Nice meeting you Edward. I came here quite by accident as well...i was a mournful soul, so to speak, and i found the friendliest, kindest, and fun-nest people here, so i stayed.

My avatar represents how i feel about happy feet.....cuz if yer feet are happy, then you are happy. :D

That reminds me of how whenever my 7 year old nephew is happy, he kicks his feet.

I have made 1 friend on here in the 3-4 days I've been here. I worry what they might think of my posts as of late though. Sometimes I'm so honest and deep, that I get a little dark.

I have also earned the respect of 2-3 other people if I had to wager. But I haven't initiated conversation with them really.

You are brave TheoryofForms.

I hate debate because people can fight and emotionally hurt one other on those forums. I usually always avoid debate because I hate conflict and fighting.

Oh, are you a gamer TheoryofForms?

I have been playing video games for over 20 years, I am quite passionate about the industry. I have wonderful childhood memories playing Banjo Kazooie for the Nintendo 64.

I know all about your profile picture. It is the character "Shulk" from the video game Xenoblade Chronicles. I know all about that game. I watched a whole walkthrough of it once. Shulk just happens to be one of my favorite characters, I really adore him.

On the other hand, my profile picture is Articuno from the Pokemon video games. Articuno was once my ace and favorite Pokemon, I grew up playing Pokemon also. It is my favorite series (aside from Digimon). I'm a Pokemon trainer, don'cha know. I'm almost 30 years old and I still adore and play Pokemon. It's not only for kids, I say.

I actually like the game Xenoblade X better, yet the characters are better in the first one (Chronicles) which is why I chose Shulk.

I should compile a list of all the video games I play some time. That list would have about 100 entries.

Xenoblade X? I have never heard of that one, I like the Xenoblade series like you do so I am going to go and check that out right now.

Yes I would like to know what video games you have played (To see if you and I have played the same thing, it gives a sense of comraderie...I don't know if I spelled that right), please give me that list. I have also played over 100 games in my childhood, maybe sometime I can compile for you my own list and let you know but right now I am too busy to do anything like that.

I don't have games like those but I do have Solitaire and Mahjong on my computer. Also, as a family, we like board games like Monopoly and Sorry, and card games.

Backgammon, chess, and checkers are favorites too!
