Well, I'm a Solitary Eclectic Wiccan with Celtic and Native American influences....hehe, sounds like quite a mouthful!

Mylinkay, I, too, am a mutt! (We call it "American" around my house) The list runs something like: Cherokee, Comanche, Cheyenne, English, Irish, Scots, French, German, Dutch, Czech, Portugeuse....those are the main ones, lol. The first 5 are the primary bloodlines, the rest are pretty far back, I'm told. The Cherokee is "reinforced" it's the only one I have from both sides of my family (I think it is two different clans, however).

I worship the Lady and the Lord. I was initiated in a Dianic Coven, but felt that it's practices took the gender bias too far in the direction of the female side. The Lady and Lord are equal partners in Divinity, and I could not worship one over the other. So when the Coven I was a member of disbanded, I struck out on my own and have spent the last 15 years (I spent the 2 before with the Coven) searching, growing and learning my own spirituality. I seldom practice magick, I am mostly too busy working and raising my family to devote much time to formal ritual, but I know the Lady and Lord are content with my prayers without the ritual trappings.

I generally follow the feelings inspired by my Goddess and God. They have led me down a path that has been enchanting and deeply satisfying. Blessed Be!

I believe philosophy should be lived. The ancient philosophers understood this, though most modern academic philosophers seem to think that philosophy is just a pointless conversation conducted over the centuries, like a chess game that never ends and nobody wins.

My own philosophy and way of life is called Eudaimonism, which is largely based on Ayn Rand's Objectivism, plus insights from the ancient Greek philosophers and certain modern psychologists. It is a nontheistic and metaphysically naturalistic philosophy at root, where reason is our means of gaining knowledge, and death is thought to be final. However, it is a thoroughly positive and uplifting philosophy that teaches that life can be meaningful and joyful, that your happiness and well-being is the proper purpose of your life, that creative work can be fulfilling and morally noble, and that there is a value to participating in moral communities, even for nontheists. If you want to get an idea of the spirit behind the philosophy, see my ChristianForums webpage (click link below).

For me, this is both an ethical and spiritual path.

Actually this forum's sole purpose is to discuss non-christian religions so we are simply using it for what it was intended (for once). At least, as I understand it.

Also I am so happy to see harmony in sharing here. Ah. Well I guess I'm going to have to read everying again to respond, because it's all very interesting and I don't want to leave anyone out. For now, just keep conversating, I'll be by with some responses when I've delievered my cheescakes to the relatives (long story )

Why wouldn't we be able to discuss Non-Christian Spirituality & Religion in the Non-Christian Spirituality & Religion Forum? Wouldn't that be just a little hypocritical?

Oh- btw I'm a practicing eclectic pagan spiritualist witch. I incoporate Native American (in idea mostly), Celtic, and Fantasy elements in my practices. Fantasy being from fiction-mostly literature. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've borrowed elements from Mists of Avalon and Lord of the Rings to use in various rituals because I found them beautiful and pleasing. I don't think it makes me fluffy at all because it's in context, but some people might, which is fine with me. I've been practicing for about 9 years now and I love my Goddess and I love the warmth I have in my life from knowing a deep and powerful connection with Deity and the world around me, but it's effortless most of the time and I have little enough time for spells or rituals myself that I only do the major festivals these days. I'm 'ritualitsic' in a day to day way on the inside, but on the outside... there's just no need for all the brick-a-brack anymore for me.

Love to stay for longer chat but the cakes await *blush*

How can we discuss our religion positively without being considered to be promoting it is the question. I believed at the time that this thread was the answer- it is clearly labled Non Christian and the intent is stated in the first post that this is a postive sharing of religions information from religions not christianity. If it doesn't make it clear that we are discussing and not 'promotin' than I'm not sure what will.

Okay now, good bye for real I have to do the delieveries and you guys are making me late with all your interesting comments!
