Non-Catholic's view of RC Catechism

For the most part, pointless.

A short summary of the faith is useful, but an 800 page document to tell you what scripture means has no advantages over scripture itself.

One has replaced a narrative with propositional statements and therefore produced something that is less good for teaching and further from the original truth.

To be honest I have no time for catechims and confessions at all - if you can't fit your fundamental statements of belief into your liturgy you've let them get out of control.

Maybe you should ask how many of the Catholics here have done so, as well as looked up and studied very single one of the Scriptural references (not taht there are that many).

I'm an ex-Catholic btw...and I've read an older edition of the Catholic Catechism. It's very interesting.

Are you asking about the catechism itself or what is *in* the catechism ( the doctrines ) ? I can comment on either .

My Catechism has approximately 2,300 unique Scriptural references. How many did the one you study have?
