Noelle Elizabeth was born on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 4:15 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. On Monday morning I woke up with bloody show and had irregular but strong contractions all day, slowly getting closer together, but still fairly irregular, throughout the night. By 6 am I decided I would be more comfortable knowing we were at the hospital as contractions were happening every 5-15 minutes and continued to be strong.
We got to the hospital at 7:30 and I worried that I was going to get sent home because I could tell the nurse and midwife were both thinking I was too calm and smiling to be very far along - but then she checked me and found out I was 7 cm! So I stayed.
But contractions remained irregular and I didn't make much progress throughout the morning, although contractions did slowly get stronger, but still not regular. By 3 pm I was feeling pretty frustrated with the lack of regularity and feeling like I was going to be in labor forever. I was almost 9 cm, and we decided to go ahead and break my water, at around 3:15. That got things going and an hour later she was born! Pushing was soo much easier this time around. My midwife suggested that I try pushing a little, but I was skeptical that it was time, so after a couple contractions I had her check me and she said that the baby was about 3 cm from crowning. I had no idea!! Once I knew that I started "really" pushing and it was only a few more contractions until she was born.
I will try to get a picture up, probably tomorrow.
Thanks for your prayers!
