Who is not aware that the twin roots of internal Western hostility toward the Scripture of truth have ever been 1) fear of it as socially subversive, and 2) anti-Third World racism, known in this context as "anti-Semitism"? Let us therefore, free of gall and wormwood, in accord with the essential Protestant affirmations — that the Bible is miraculously self-validating, and that it is self-explanatory to the exclusion of external authority (BIBLE, BIBLE, AND MORE BIBLE) — and in accord with the counsel of our Lord and that nobility and readiness of mind of the Bereans, diligently search the Scriptures, that we too may know and believe (John 5:39; Acts 17:10-12).
Yes, truly, "Blessed are the poor people, because the Kingdom of God belongs to you; but woe to you who are rich, because you have received your consolation" (Luke 6:20, 24); and, "Hasn’t God chosen the poor people out of the world, those being rich in faith?" (James 2:5). And see from the multitude of its highly complex already fulfilled prophecies that the Bible alone is even today miraculously self-validating as it ever was from the beginning, and all its words are true and the gift of Heaven. And what is this perfect love of "Love your comrade like yourself," but sharing all things with him in the love and light of Christ, and this is called Christian communalism, and taking counsel with him in all things, and this is called democracy? And so the Scripture witnesses in Matthew 5:3, "Blessed by the Spirit are the poor people, because
the Kingdom of the Heavens belongs to them." Religionist, communalistic, democratic — such was the life of the ancients, and such is the life restored for us through the Gospel.
And behold the never failing sense of purpose, structure, security, and psychological grounding, that arise from the motions of the Law; and how the mere act of defining a thing as good or bad, or pure or impure, or permitted or forbidden, gives an individual an automatic and very real dignity not obtainable otherwise; for by refraining from what is evil and pursuing what is good, the individual finds himself elevated, purified, and ennobled, freed from reliance upon the acceptance or rejection of men, and brought into the presence of the power and the peace that preceded and transcends the world.
