Hello I would like to ask a question.

About Genesis 5.
Before anyone answers me I would like to ask that you only answer from you heart.
I do not desire to hear scholarly interpretations or parroted messages but I want to hear your interpretation.

What I want to ask is this.
Who in the genealogy of Adam to Noah died in the flood?

To be fair, the Bible says Noah lived to 950 and lived 350 years after the Flood.
Therefore, he was 600 at that time.
His father Lamech lived 595 years after his birth and was therefore dead before the flood.
His grandfather Methusaleh lived 782 years after the birth of Lamech who died at age 777. So Methusaleh outlived him by 5 years, which is the exact time Noah was 600 and the flood was to occur. This does not mean he died in the flood however as he could merely have died just before the Flood (But as the world was sinning there is no reason to think he had to be righteous. So its entirely possible he drowned).

However, Lamech and Methusaleh had sons and daughters according to the text, so Noah's brothers, sisters and cousins, or at least their descendants, are therefore implied to have drowned in the flood.

I would agree with this position. Of those specifically mentioned in the genealogies from Adam to Noah, only Methusaleh would have been alive near the time of the flood. However, he would have died in the year of the flood either from natural death or the result of the flood.

God bless you.

Let me guess: Did Methuselah survive?
Apart from the date of his death, the fact that he isn't mentioned as one of those who aboard the Ark should be enough to conclude that he either drowned or died a natural death before the Flood began.

Methuselah's name means "is death shall bring", which indicates God knew at his birth when the flood was coming.

There's more ...

Hebrew English

Adam Man
Seth Appointed
Enosh Mortal
Kenan Sorrow
Mahalalel The Blessed God
Jared Shall come down
Enoch Teaching
Methuselah His death shall bring
Lamech The Despairing
Noah Rest, or comfort

The gospel mssage contained ...

Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow; (but) the Blessed God shall come down teaching (that) His death shall bring (the) despairing rest.

I'd like to know exactly where this is in the Bible
Take out the words in brackets and your gospel message has an entirely different meaning.
"Man appointed mortal sorrow; the Blessed God shall come down teaching His death shall bring despairing rest"

It's derived from the book of Genesis in the part where Adam's descents leading to Noah are listed. It is composed of scattered words and not found as written.

I know were it is derived from and I know its scattered words. It means nothing.

From the heart, no one died in the flood because it was an invention of the Hebrew priesthood in Babylon during the mass redactions of the older writings. Under pressure from the devastating loss of their national identity the priestly elite went to the other extreme in an attempt to hold the scattered, dejected Israelites together. It worked.

Being unable to trace their bloodlines back to the ancient story of Adam and Eve (a dominant Mesopotamian legend) the priestly redactors decided to drown the whole world in it's own wickedness to fill the gap. At the same time they converted an ordinary secular history into a miraculous fiction, grossly exaggerating many aspects of their nationalist history from Abram forward. In doing so they left fragments of the original stories within their new narratives. There is no secular history of the Jews in that time period because only the redacted books survived. Other history books mentioned within the redacted books themselves did NOT survive.

No one, since the Bible doesn't list those who have not been born Spiritually. Adam died BEFORE the flood and others such as Abel, who are listed among the living, are still alive in Christ. The people who died were the violent people of Adam's Earth and the descendants of Cain and prehistoric people. It's the same today. We have inherited the mind of God, through Adam Gen 3:22 AND we have the DNA and ERVs of prehistoric savages. Amen?

Ever bother to double check the meanings to see if this is true? I did years ago and replied to someone's post:

Adam = man,

Adam means "ruddy" but we can use man.

Seth = appointed,

No, it means substituted.

H8352
שׁת
shêth
shayth
From H7896; put, that is, substituted; Sheth, third son of Adam: - Seth, Sheth.

Enosh= mortal,

Eh, Strong's says "a mortal" but close enough

Cainan = sorrow,

No it means "fixed"

H7018
קינן
qêynân
kay-nawn'
From the same as H7064; fixed; Kenan, an antediluvian: - Cainan, Kenan.

Mahalalel = the blessed God,

No, it's "praise of God"

H4111
מהללאל
mahălal'êl
mah-hal-al-ale'
From H4110 and H410; praise of God; Mahalalel, the name of an antediluvian patriarch and of an Israelite: - Mahalaleel.

Jared = shall come down,

Pretty close, a descent.

Enoch = teaching,

No, initiated.

H2585
חנוך
chănôk
khan-oke'
From H2596; initiated; Chanok, an antediluvian patriarch: - Enoch.

Methuselah = his death shall bring,

No, man of a dart (a spear)

H4968
מתוּשׁלח
methûshelach
meth-oo-sheh'-lakh
From H4962 and H7973; man of a dart; Methushelach, an antediluvian patriarch: - Methuselah.

Lamech = the despairing,

No, powerful.

H3929
Lamech = “powerful”
1) the 5th lineal descendant from Cain, husband of Adah and Zillah, father of sons, Jabal, Jubal, and Tubal-cain, and daughter, Naamah
2) father of Noah

Noah = rest and comfort.....

Yes.

SO if we put that all together we get "MAN APPOINTED MORTAL SORROW THE BLESSED GOD SHALL MCOME DOWN TEACHING HIS DEATH SHALL BRING THE DESPAIRING REST AND COMFORT.".....cool huh?

It's not accurate and saying "DESPAIRING REST AND COMFORT" is like saying it's restful and comforting to be in despair lol

Let's try, "man substituted a mortal fixed praise of God a descent initiated man of a spear powerful rest."

The purpose of the flood was to kill all those who were contaminated with the "genes" derived from the 200 fallen angels that came down to earth and had offspring with women on the earth. Noah was perfect in his generations, Genesis 6:9, in that he was not contaminated with these genes. For reasons I won't go into, I think these monstrosities (giants, etc.) ruled the earth for 700 to 1200 years during the 1st 2000 years after the creation.

The giants also were found in the land (Philistines, etc) when Israel first entered it. I'm thinking that there were 6 different clans that God had Israel destroy. Here again, I believe the reason for killing them was to eliminate these monstrous freaks contaminated with angel "genes."

I said in another thread where this come up that I am yet to be convinced this is true. Can you provide scripture where it says 200 fallen angels came down to earth and had offspring with women on earth?

It's worth noting that there were other survivors of the flood according to Josephus, which may have included some in the genealogy of Adam:

"Now all the writers of barbarian histories make mention of this flood, and of this ark; among whom is Berossus the Chaldean. For when he was describing the circumstances of the flood, he goes on thus: "It is said, there is still some part of this ship in Armenia, at the mountain of the Cordyaeans; and that some people carry off pieces of the bitumen, which they take away, and use chiefly as amulets, for the averting of mischiefs."--Hieronymus the Egyptian also, who wrote the Phenician antiquities, and Manases, and a great many more, make mention of the same. Nay, Nicholas of Damascus, in his ninety-sixth book, hath a particular relation about them; where he speaks thus: "There is a great mountain in Armenia, over Minyas, called Baris, upon which it is reported, that many who fled at the time of the deluge were saved; and that one who was carried in an ark, came on shore upon the top of it; and that the remains of the timber were a great while preserved. This might be the man about whom Moses the legislator of the Jews wrote."

"Now the sons of Noah were three - Shem, Japhet, and Ham, born one hundred years before the Deluge. These first of all descended from the mountains into the plains, and fixed their habitation there; and persuaded others who were greatly afraid of the lower grounds on account of the flood, and so were very loath to come down from the higher places, to venture to follow their examples."

Yes, the flood wasn't literally world wide just Noah's world was flooded which was a certain area in which there were evil people God decided to kill. Even Noah might have thought it was global, certainly lot's daughters believed there were the last humans alive on the planet and so mated with their own father. Both examples were a localized destruction but quite massive in the eyes of the survivors.
