Students are not supposed to be given condoms in schools. Students are not going to school to learn how to have sex, schools were created to educate students, to prepare them for work. Students are not ready for sex. Contrary to popular belief not all students are having sex. The reason why more teens are becoming sexually active is because of the prevalence of sexual songs, pornography, and adult shows and movies. Pornography especially is one of the biggest problems in this world that needs to be stopped.

I want kids to have access to condoms so that kids don't have kids. Because kids having kids is generally a very bad idea.

This. But I've never heard of students being given condoms in HS. In college yes but not HS. That would be so awkward to get a condom from your teacher.

The problem is most guys won't use them. Girls think it can't happen to me. We live in a highly sexualized world.

Um no most HS girls are totally aware that they can get pregnant from having sex, even just the 1st time, even during your period. If they don't know that then there were some serious gaps in their education.

Edit: I stand corrected. Nobody I personally know would be that dangerously ignorant at my age. There's a lot of people in this world I don't know.

Actually, without sex education you get a ton of misinformation out there about sex. It's why sex ed is so important and vital.

That is probably true. It's just unimaginable to me. I don't know of anybody my age who would be that ignorant.

I was in high school just three years ago, and did. There was a rumor going around school the year I graduated that drinking a cup of mountain dew before you had sex would stop you from getting pregnant...

In the area where I live many of the HS girls have praise for other girls when they become PG. In fact its like a honor that you stay in schoold ab other girls encourage others to get pg. It sure hurts their chances to be able to provide a good home for their little ones. These girls deserve praise for keeping their child, and not killing their child.

No way! That's so crazy! Why? Where did you grow up? I just turned 16 & have known about pregnancy for so many yrs now. I haven't even taken health in HS yet so it's just the MS stuff that covered all this.

:swoon:Where do you live?! I've never even seen PG as a slang for pregnant. Why aren't the kids there taught about pregnancy??????

I grew up around Boston, MA and Pittsburgh, PA.

The high school I ended up graduating from was known as "heroin high", though.

The kids don't ask the teachers, they can go to the school nurse. Better than babies having babies. Kids WILL have sex, some as young as 12. Abstinence-based sex-ed DOES NOT WORK. The state of Colorado has had comprehensive sex-ed along with access to contraception and their teen pregnancy rate is about the lowest in the USA. States with that abstinence based baloney still has high teen pregnancy rates...what does that tell you?

I'm super surprised because Boston and Pittsburgh aren't backwards. They're really progressive. They have some terrific schools. At least I know Boston does bc my cousin lives there. That's awful it was known as heroin high. I can't imagine using heroin. At any age but especially as a teen. How do they even get that stuff? That's super hard core stuff.

Vancouver, but we used to live in Seattle, and before that in Chicago. Nope, never ever seen PG used for pregnant. I'll Tweet your post to see if maybe other ppl do use it but I've somehow just never heard it.

So now can you answer my questions? I answered yours.

A student who doesn't already know how to have sex isn't going to grab a condom.

Well, it wasn't Pittsburgh per se, but an area about an hour south of Pittsburgh that is considerably more conservative.

When the gay-straight alliance was founded, a group of students tried to create an anti-gay club, so it wasn't the most progressive of places, heh.

In the Mid-West and even in the South I guess things are very much different, not so much social pressure. In the general area I live in a Family of four usually has an income of $32,000. That is not very much now days. Sometimes girls who want out of their home will get pregnant and welfare and all the programs total more than $25 to$35,000. in aid. Just think about a girl stuck in a terrible home situation with no hope of getting out. Her only hope might be starting a family. Very sad but so really true.
