That's not fair. He's more certain of his answers than any scientist or you and me, Scientists and us ask questions that are hard to answer, that we are still looking for the answers. Wryetui has a book that gives him all the answers, he never questions them, for him they are all he needs.

This follows 1,000s of years of tradition in all the religions. They give all the answers anyone needs. They may all end up giving different answers, his church gives different ones from others, but that doesn't shake his certainty his answers right and everyone else is blind.
Not a book, a Church, which is superior to any Bible, how many times do I have to tell you?

Neuroscientists that have a disagreement have tools such as scientific methodology that they can use to analyze and process their data. They can construct hypotheses, test, falsify, and have their experiments replicated (or not) by others.

Tell me about how religionists go about resolving differences of opinion about their many and varied, and often contradictory "holy" texts? Debate? Popular vote? Warfare?
Religionists have the bible, which is very mixed up and often contradicts itself. So they can pick out the bits they like. And reject those they don't.

So a group of men deciding what bits are right and what bits to ignore.

I get confused with so many quoting the bible at us.

John 9

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been born blind. 2 His followers asked him, “Teacher, whose sin caused this man to be born blind—his own sin or his parents’ sin?”

3 Jesus answered, “It is not this man’s sin or his parents’ sin that made him blind. This man was born blind so that God’s power could be shown in him. 4 While it is daytime, we must continue doing the work of the One who sent me. The night is coming. And no one can work at night. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

6 After Jesus said this, he spit on the ground and made some mud with it. He put the mud on the man’s eyes. 7 Then he told the man, “Go and wash in the Pool of Siloam.” (Siloam means Sent.) So the man went to the pool. He washed and came back. And he was able to see.

8 Some people had seen this man begging before. They and the man’s neighbors said, “Look! Is this the same man who always sits and begs?”

9 Some said, “Yes! He is the one.” But others said, “No, he’s not the same man. He only looks like him.”

So the man himself said, “I am the man.”

10 They asked, “What happened? How did you get your sight?”

11 He answered, “The man named Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. Then he told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and came back seeing.”

Does this then mean, individual church's don't rely on the bible?
I do not care about other "churches" but about the One, True Church, the Orthodox one, in which the Bible you are reading now was compiled, and if you don't believe me, believe history.

Yes, man with preparation decide over the ignorants, don't you think?

I quoted that in order to see that you are the blind man and Jesus is the one who heals you.

Politicians.

Please stop insulting people who don't agree with you.

How many Orthodox Priests blessed, soldiers. guns and arms used in the recent war in the Balkans? Where Christians were committing genocide against Muslims?

All I believe from history is that when Rome finally gave up rule to the Germanic tribes, the Western half of the Roman Empire ceased to be Roman, but the Eastern half survived for about a millennium.

I personally don't see how the Orthodox church has any privileged claim to be the "original" Church as compared with the Catholic Church (and possibly a few others). Both Churches are arguably a continuation of the original Church due to apostolic succession, not that this means all that much.

It's like McDonalds -- all the franchises are McDonalds. There is little point in deciding which is the True McDonalds restaurant.

eudaimonia,

Well I think the early Gnostics were the one "true" church....I forgot their name...the ones that believed Jesus wasn't a person but he was a spirit that inhabited various bodies.

How do I know they're the "one true church"? I'm glad you asked Mark. The bible says that true christians will be persecuted...and they were the first to be persecuted all the way out of existence. (By the Catholics I think...but that's a minor detail.)

so it is ok for Atheists preachin your brand of hate speech and that makes this it ok for you'all to be a hypocrite because of what you demand of us you don't do it , but you don't have to be "tolerant" and "Liberal" right ? so it is ok for you to be militant?
so good luck with that.

I don't think you know any atheists.

"That the bible might not be 100% true"

just in your dreams . the truth is it is perfect for what he intended..
to confuse the goofy who don't know what they don't know. and then refuse to ask him . it is perfect because he is perfect. .

According to the bible, which of course, may not be 100% true.

Do you mean Docetism?

Good point, even if you're not being entirely serious.

However, on a serious note, I'm tempted to say that there is no original Christian Church. Well, not really. This stems from my slight lean towards Jesus Mythicism. The idea that Jesus chose Peter to start a Church is just a fiction. There were many Christian groups, with variations on doctrine, that eventually drew together into one Church (or were excluded as heretics). What resulted is a mishmash of various groups.

Chicken Little, Wryetui, and and a few others. Should get together and decide among themselves which parts of the bible are true and should be followed.

That's the problem with the book. It's been written by a group of scribes belonging to a minor tribe while in captivity. To bind the tribe together and keep it apart from others. In this they have been successful and it led to their mass murder.

Then twisted to fit a new prophet, then twisted again to create a replacement religion to keep a power base in Constantinople in control. Which was later shifted in part to Rome.
