I figured here would be the best place to put this.

I read something the other day that was so great and it's called "No Excuse Sunday".

To make it possible for everyone to attend church this Sunday, we are going to have a special "No Excuse Sunday". Cots will be placed in the foyer for those who say, "Sunday is my only day to sleep in." There will be a special section with lounge chairs for those who feel that our pews are too hard. Eye drops will be available for those with tired eyes from watching TV late Saturday night. We will have steel helmets for those who say, "The roof would cave in if I ever came to church." Blankets will be furnished for those who think the church is too cold, and fans for those who say it is too hot. Scorecards will be available for those who wish to list the hypocrites present. Relatives and friends will be in attendance for those who can't go to church and cook dinner, too. We will distribute "Stamp Out Stewardship" buttons for those that feel the church is always asking for money. One section will be devoted to trees and grass for those who like to seek God in nature. Doctors and nurses will be in attendance for those who plan to be sick on Sunday. The sanctuary will be decorated with both Christmas poinsettias and Easter lilies for those who never have seen the church without them. We will provide hearing aids for those who can't hear the preacher and cotton wool for those who can.

I saw this in "Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul" by an unknown author and knew that it was something special because people come up with so many reasons not to attend church. It's not about what there's not to like it's about worshiping God in fellowship and learning God's word in fellowship. If nothing but the cons are focused on, then the important things will be missed.

God Bless :)

...you know this is a really great thread. Right when I think the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series has done it all, I come across something really wonderful like this. Thanks for the great, fun idea, I think I might have to go pick it up, or order it or something. Thanks, and God Bless.

The "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series is so great! I love reading them and love them even more after this. No problem! I couldn't resist sharing this after how I felt reading it.

God Bless :)

hehehe!..but wait...Cotton balls for those who can hear the pastor?? isn't that achieveing the opposite goal??
Well, I saw it somewhere saying "Cotton wool for those who thinks he's too loud." That's just the way it was in the book, maybe it was a misprint or something or just talking about those who don't want to hear the preacher. I'm not sure really.
