  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If there was never a Nirvana, I would have been happy.

This is, of course, based on musical taste and not theology, as I love hair metal, and blame them for its decline. Is it justified? I don't know. Is it real? I don't know. But I do know that they exemplify everything I hate about today's rock music.

Speaking as someone who will proudly listen to Skid Row's debut album 3x in a row, hair metal needed to die. The vast majority of it was cheesy tripe.

I think Nirvana was good for its time and even a bit musically underappreciated (watch the videos of Butch Vig talking about the making of Nevermind). That said, I don't think their stuff has aged really well. Musically, the other big Seattle bands (Soundgarden, PJ, AIC) were far superior and 25 years on, I can still listen to their early stuff and get into it, whereas a lot of Nirvana's sounds to me like depressing, moderately-boring punk music.

I hate that all the sudden nirvana is getting noticed...... again. Really? What the hell is wrong with my generation? Kids knowing who soundgarden or alice in chains is would be nice. Is there any faith for humanity? Those are just a few
