I was looking at and almost decided to spend the big bucks and buy the D80 from Nikon. But at $1200 . . . Besides I am just an amateur, nothing to write home about yet, so do I need something that big to start with in the DSLR field? At the same time i wanted something more than what i had. The f-717 from Sony was around $1000 when I bought it in 2002 and after 8000 plus pictures I wanted to at least explore the idea of DSLR.
Well over the weekend after much prayer and searching I decided to buy the D50 from Nikon. At Ritz camera with the 18-55mm lens it was going for $699. Then there is the 2 GB memory card, the 70-300mm lens that i wanted, the gig bag, and it was all going to add up to close to a thousand.
My budget is very tight, so i decided that for now i would stick with my Sony f-717 (still a very good camera. Then out of the blue the Lord blessed me with a D50, brand new for $411. So with all the accessories and such it ended up being $736 total.
The only bummer so far is that i had just bought three new filters at 58mm for the Sony and my new rig takes 52 and 62 . LOL Oh well, it was still a great deal, that i thought I would share.
I will post more about the camera as i play with it, but right out of the box I impressed with the feel and look, not too mention the picture quality which is most important.
