  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Before I turned my life back to Christ I use to get bad nightmares and something known as sleep paralysis. In some attacks I'm constantly fighting to pull my soul back up from being pulled down. I've even heard them say "we almost got her" this year it got to the point where I would go into sleep paralysis (not always this intense) every night and if not every other night. I use to be scared but since turning to Christ this past month they have completely stopped for almost 2 weeks. One night when I was about to fall into this state I heard good voices all around just say "wake up wake up wake up" Anyways, the past few nights I have been getting nightmares. I would have mini dream after dream all filled with murder, sex and very dark stuff. Stuff I don't feel comfortable writing. I thought everything has been fine. My life and heart are still headed for Jesus but I don't understand why I feel under attack in dreams again.

Hi sister,

Take it to the Lord in prayer at that throne of grace and trust Him as your Good Shepherd to not only direct the words of your mouth & the meditation of your heart to be made acceptable in His sight, but your dreams as well.

Psalm 19:12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

The things I would watch out for is:

#1) If you have made any commitments to Him or promises to do His work in you, then you need to be set free by Him to rest in Him to show that trust in Him that He will do His work in you because that is His Covenant to you.

#2) Being around "holy rollers": inviting them into your home or going to that kind of a church where they preach receiving the "Spirit" again after a sign or any of those healing crusades that promote healing directly by the Holy Spirit as if by descending on them in a spectacular way in some sort of sensation in the flesh. Don't go there.

#3) Fellowshipping with those in the occults. Don't do that. You can witness to them, but keeping company with them is not wise.

#4) What we watch on television, know that Jesus is watching too. If the eye is seeing darkness, you may be seeing replays in your dreams, especially when you are liking the violence that you watch as entertainment. Maybe the nightmares are letting you know that just as you are grieved by these nightmares, the Spirit is too by you liking your form of entertainment.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

I have to guard against that too as I trust the Son of God at that throne of grace to let me know when something is not right within me when watching televisions.. like agreeing with how the bad guy deserves to die on TV or in the movie or how I am tempted to think that I would have that bad guy suffer before I kill him if it was me. Jesus reminds us that He died to save sinners of whom I am chief as we are to set the pattern of example of longsuffering inthe hopes that others may eventually believe to life everlasting.

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

So I rely on the Lord to keep the foot of pride away from me and not let the word of truth depart from my mouth.

As long as we are in this corruptible flesh, we shall have tribulation, but we have confidence in our Saviour that He will overcome this for us as He will finish His work in us to His glory.

John 16:33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

1 John 5:1Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him....4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:...
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Night mares are awful to go through Felicia. I've come cross exdruggies suffering from nightmares for no apparent reason. My husband was one and even though he was living the godly life of a spiritfilled Christian and on fire for the Lord he continued with having nightmare boughts on and off for yrs. Except for occassion they eventually slowed and stopped and have been replaced with wonderful dreams. Since I have come across others with the same experience including those having experienced sexual fornicaion, rape or being molested when young. It was something that needed to be worked out. I have heard some explain these terrific events as causing splintering of the soul that requires healng. Of course the Lord is the One who heals us so staying close to Him and allowing the water of His Word to wash you you will move on away from this.

Do you know of some mature Christians who can pray over you? I'll pray for you too. God would want you whole, healthy and having good dreams and He will see you through <3

Be proactive about the dreams that you ask (the Holy Spirit) for.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter as dwelling within us: not the Mediator as being at that throne of grace as being inbetween us. That's the Son's job.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Below is the purpose of prayer and why the Holy Spirit is not the One to ask because He is not in the position to answer those prayers.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.....13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Wow thanks for all the scriptures and help! My sleep was much better last night once I meditated and talked with God. I don't watch much tv or movies anymore and I've rid myself of anything that I feel isn't of god. I do fear the enemy just because he does scare me. I fear god more but i just get scared from what ive seen the enemy do or say. In my past I've opened up doors and grew up on gory horror movies all my life. I grew up addicted to gore and so a lot of times images ive watched in the past flash over. I can say that I am no longer into that genre. I have no desire to be associated with it. However, I am a special effects makeup artist so I've had to turn down a couple jobs I feel doesn't tie into my faith.

Sleep paralysis is believed a result of disrupted REM sleep, which is normally characterized by complete muscle atonia that prevents individuals from acting out their dreams. Sleep paralysis has been linked to disorders such as narcolepsy, migraines, anxiety disorders, and obstructive sleep apnea; however, it can also occur in isolation. When linked to another disorder, sleep paralysis commonly occurs in association with the neuromuscular disorder narcolepsy. I think maybe you should consult a doctor & also maybe get a minister to pray with you.

[PS I'm sorry I spoke too soon and removed an agreement part of this post. Of course we all have our opinions, however, I cannot come into agreement that being around Chistian believers, whether Spiritfilled or not, is a sin. And I cannot pretend that God no longer miraculously heals; my husband is living proof. It is up to each one of us to seek God and His Word about these matters on our own. No offense to anyones religion or beliefs, God bless... ]

i have regular sleep paralysis and for me it is the most terrible thing. It happens mostly when i just took a nap. I wake up...but can't move. I start getting terrified and i can't move anything. Somehow i feel that my eyes are open and if the pillow is close to my face i fear that i can't breath. Usually i try as hard as i can to move. then suddenly my body starts shaking a bit and then i can move. its maybe just few seconds but it feels so long. i fear it very much. i have periods where that does not happen and also periods where it happens often. :( Till yet i spoke with just my mom about it.

Fear, many times comes from what you "think" might happen. If you know it is a temporary state that you are in, and it does no harm to you or your body, and it is not demonic, then you will not panic and exacerbate the condition.

Our imagination is our own worst enemy. satan most likely is busy attacking your relationships and your conscious thoughts far more than the extremely obvious boggy man, or demonic appearances.

Akira,
If it is a physical phenomenon and has no spiritual cause at all, it doesn't matter of which faith you are because prayer would not be nessesary....in a few minutes the completely physical phenomenon passes...no harm is done . You already know that no harm comes to you, because nothing has harmed you in the past when this occurs. We must use common sense and wisdom regarding these things. Did you read the medical page I posted?
