  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone read Nicholas Sparks?

I just read one of his books for the first time. I read A Bend in the Road. I went into it not expecting anything wonderful because I had watched Message in a Bottle and I kinda hated it. :) I thought I would give him a chance though since I watched A Walk to Remember and liked it a lot.

It was a quick and easy read. I might even read The Notebook now.

O my gosh! I love nicholas sparks! I have read all of his books and I am currently reading his new one, "True Believer". I didn't really like message in a bottle, the movie. I hated the movie after I read the book. The book is so much better! I hope you get as addicted as I did!

I do like his books and his style; nice simple romance, not too "mushy" - except the premarital sex, like Roseglass said. He's be a superb author if he didn't stick that in :p it doesn't really seem to "fit" with the way he writes, don't know if that makes any sense. I've read all of his except Nights in Rodanthe ... I think, anyway

My favorite is A Walk to Remember. I like the book even better than the movie. I also liked The Notebook but have not seen the movie. I simply hated Message in a Bottle because I really did not want the guy to die just when he had learned to live again. I can see the poetic justice in it, but it still made me mad!

I just finished reading The Bend In the Road. Its was really good! A really surprizing ending actually. I enjoyed it.

I liked the end too. I kept waiting through the whole book to see some candles in windowsills. It was nice how he tied it all together.
