In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. Anybody else following the hockey playoffs? I'm in Vancouver, so there are a lot of expectations, but I really don't like the Canucks. Well, it's not so much the Canucks themselves as it is the preponderance of moronic Canucklehead fans who don't care about hockey outside of their own team. They're Canucks fans, not hockey fans, which is unfortunate because there are a lot of intriguing stories out there among the other 7 series going on right now.

Anyway, just wondering what, if anything, people think of the playoffs so far.

I am, watching the game two of the Bruins-Caps series. Getting amped up to watch my Rangers play the Sens tonight, hoping for a good game! As a new-ish hockey fan I love the intensity of playoff hockey, they take it to another level.

The Pens-Flyers series has been very surprising, I would have never expected the Flyers to win both games in pittsburgh and for the Pens to implode in such epic fashions, it's like they decided to stop playing defense after the 1st period.

I feel pretty confident about the Rangers, I think if they keep playing their brand of hockey they'll go far.

The Detriot-Nashville series has also been entertaining, I love the physical play and Pekke Rinne is an amazing goal tender.

The Vancouver-LA Kings series has been a huge surprise. Didn't expect an 8 seed team with abysmal scoring to be schooling the President's Trophy winners. I really think Luongo is overrated and I wouldn't be surprised if Schneider gets the next start.

Anyway, Hockey is Awesome and if you aren't watching the playoffs there's something wrong with your head!

Rangers win game 3!

Looking forward to game 4 of the Flyers-Pens series, hope the implosion of the Penguins will continue.

That's how I feel about the Canucks. Although with the Canucks, it's not so much an implosion as it is getting outplayed and running into a hot goalie. Pens seem to be losing their mind out there. The first period of game one, they were wholly dominant. Since then, they've crumbled. Who'da thunk that the two teams favoured to make the Cup final would be down 3-0 in round one!

Yes, very impressed with the LA Kings. For a team that didn't have a lot of scoring in the regular season they really picked it up. Plus Johnathan Quick in the net and you have a tough team.

I agree on the Penguins, they had gotten so used to winning at will that they have completely imploded, even Mario Lemieux said he was embarrassed. Personally, I love it. I want to see Crosby's tears as his team goes home and gets their golf clubs.

Yes, very surprising to see the two top teams in this position. But it's why the NHL playoffs are the best.

I tend to cheer for any Canadian team, so I'm currently rooting hard for Ottawa. Such a great game last night. Solid playoff hockey, overtime and everything! Its been so long since a Canadian team won the cup and we keep making it to the final and then failing :(

First Calgary in 04, then Edmonton in 06, then Ottawa in 07, then Van in 2011.

Van is already burned in my books, they've dug themselves too big a hole.

How bout Philly-Pitt series though? So many goals! So many fights! Such a great rivalry.

At this point, I'm probably picking a Philly-STL final. Although I'd like to see Ottawa and Nashville go far.

I'm watching! I'm a Blues fan, and I hope they can finally make it somewhere in the playoffs. Maybe even the Cup for the first time.

I am honestly very surprised that the Pens are down 3-1. I figured that series would have been a lot closer. The Canucks though, what the heck is happening with that? I'm all for the Canucks losing, but losing 3-1 against the Kings? I thought for sure it would have been Canucks in 5, maybe 6.

I have nothing against the Blues, but for some reason I have a soft spot for the Sharks. I'd like them to win, but I won't be bothered if they don't. Tonight's game is big. Blues are winning right now.

I had the Rangers as the most likely sure thing, followed by the Canucks. But the way things are going, there are going to be a lot of upsets in the first round.

Jersey Devils Fan... I dunno I'm quite nervous about game 7 tonight. I think they have the talent, but they haven't seem to get a really good winning streak going all year. last year was a disaster, but they really put on a good effort near the end. I hate to say the Flyers look like the team to beat to me, unless they play The Rangers. I'll have a rough time if they pull it off I will never hear the end of it especially since their practice arena is a mile down the road from me and everyone at this end of the state is Die Hard Philly... ughh I have been tempted to root for philly teams in the past, I've liked the teams themselves, I just can't get over the fans in Philly

I'm brand spanking new to hockey. Unfortunately neither team that I pull for (Stars 1st, Avs 2nd) made the playoffs, but I'm enjoying all of the games so far. Now that Round 1 is in the books I'll give you my take.

Eastern Conference ~ Not happy that Rangers and Philly won. I've always favored Pittsburgh and let's face it ladies Sidney Crosby is HOT  Having said that Philly deserves to go on while Sid, Malkin, Le Tang, Asham, and company need to grow up. Perhaps if they didn't act like petulant children they wouldn't be at home watching the rest of the playoffs. Bummed that defending champs Boston are out, but Holtby was superb and like Tim Thomas a hottie to boot :) Can't complain much there except for Ovechkin as he has a face only his mother could love. Happy that the Devils won their game tonight ~ more of Marty Brodeur.

Western Conference ~ Don't usually pull for Cali teams, but I'm glad that Vancouver is out! After the riots Vancouver fans definately do not deserve any trophy - not even the Cascadia Cup. Down side is no more Luogno to look at, but it will be interesting to see where he lands next year. St. Louis Blues ~ the only reason that this TX Ranger fan is pulling for them is Hitchcock. He won the Cup with the Stars, so he has my respect and admiration. Yes, Brett Hull can do no wrong in my eyes (and that was a good goal!) Yay, the Red Wings are out. Finally PHX and Shane Doan win a playoff series, but it might be too little too late. I've been following some business threads on a well known hockey forum and many believe Quebec will get the team next year. I'm hoping that will happen and that the five Coyote fans have a chance to say good-bye unlike the Atlanta fans.

What is with the "discipline"? It seems like Shanahan doesn't know the meaning of consistent. The NBC talking heads along with the players seemed to be confused about this to, so it's not just me. As for Raffi Torres ~ why doesn't the NHL give players like that lifetime bans? Baseball has given out lifetime bans for far less why can't the other leagues follow suit?

Hoping for some great 2nd round games and will be on the look out for more hockey hotties. It's not about who wins or loses, it's about the teams with the best looking players right ladies ;)

Rangers off to a great start with a win over Washington, hopefully they'll go 2-0 tonight.

Let's Go Rangers!

In other news, the Flyers-Devils game yesterday had an amazing ending. I watched the OT, it was really cool how Briere got the game winner after he kicked in the no-goal.

Also, where the heck did Phoenix come from? They are simply dominating Nashville.
