  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Goodness me, entertaining people? not on your nellie! lol

Our church provides 2 weeks of 'meals on wheels' where someone brings over a hot meal in the evening. They are strictly instructed that they should not assume they will be invited in - infact they should assume they won;t be! It's a door drop operation!!

I also made about a week or so of meals for the freezer to follow on from this - by week 4 my mum came to visit for a week so that covered the first month :)

At the end of my pregnancy, I took a day with a friend to make some freezer meals, I had a total of 10. At our church, whenever someone has a baby, women team up and make 2 weeks worth of meals (what a blessing!). We were invited over a few times also, so basically I didn't have to cook for 5 weeks. That was wonderful!

Have you gone to the other side?

:D Heck no!

I was involved in a ministry at church where we prepared meals for couples with newborns and I just wanted to get input from new parents on what works well for them.

Giving frozen meals at church ahead of time seems like a good idea. It saves driving time for the giver, especially if you live across town from the recipient, and possibly will relieve the recipient of having to entertain after the baby is born.

Mum cooked for the first week and dad cooked for the second, after that, I was in sort of a routine so most days I managed.

I did forget about the veg once though and welded it into a black mass in the bottom of the pan, another time I forgot to turn the oven on to cook a pie.....lol
