  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New Years Resolutions

Gol Zamar, I have always disliked New Year's too. Mainly because everything and everyone gets another year older. And as a child I used to see the imagery of baby new year and old man past year often and it disturbed me to think of what happened to old man new year after the old year went out. But, these past few years have been pretty wonderful so hopefully 2013 is the best yet!

I'm so glad someone else gets it! And I like your positive attitude :) Every year I TRY to drag myself into the same kind of thinking. *grunts and sweats with the effort*

I never make them. I figure if there's something in my life I need to change then I should make the change immediately.
This, more or less. If something in my life requires change, then I resolve to make changes as necessary. Why wait for the 1st of January?

I've never really celebrated New Year's. I always feel sad at "endings" of anything, whether it be a book, movie, or year of my life. And I think of how I'm getting another year older. Bleh, lol. I usually pray for God to get me through the next year in one piece :)
That's understandable. There's something melancholy about emphasizing the passage of time.

Although I pray and give thanks, I do that on other days as well. My New Year's Eve celebrations are more about having chips & dip with family and friends than anything else.

To make one small change each week (lasting for the duration of the year) of 2013 leading to 52 long term changes aimed at improving my mental and physical well being by the start of 2014. By adding one small change a week I hope to avoid overwhelming myself and make slow changes with long term implications rather than quick fixes which ultimately do nothing to change my perspective on life.

I have a list of changes, motivation for these changes and how they can be measured, now to implement them. Hurrah for a new calender year.

Yay for small bites out of goals! That's how I'm planning to do the health and fitness bit. Chunk by chunk.

The cliché losing weight resolution.

I want to lose like 213,432 pounds....give or take. Jokes aside, I have a realistic number that I do want to accomplish and a realistic path to get there.

I am hoping 2013 will be kind to me.

I also have some financial resolutions in mind. But those are long term goals that will require more than a year to accomplish. But, I would like to at least start them this year.

I have been hoping for a great New Year's resolution.

But no one seems to be able to help me.

I have been hoping someone would make a New Year's resolution to bring me some donuts.

In case anyone can help...I like Dunkin Donuts to Krispy Kreme...and Sprinkles. (sprinkles say, "party")

But alas...no donuts yet this year. *sigh*

This is how I feel as well. But if I can find some way that I have bettered myself as a result of the end, I feel better about it.

So my goal for this year is to actually keep up with our book work. I wish there was a gagging smiley because that's how I feel about it. :p
