Hi! I just found this site & I am excited to get the POV of likeminded people! :)

My dh & I have 5 children. Each birth has been hard. My last was so incredibly traumatic that I insisted dh get a vas. Well, of course I have now been quiverfull convicted & dh is schedled for his reversal. poor dh! LOL

My problem is this - yesterday I was reading a fellow quiverful mom's birth story & it dawned on me that I HAVE TO GIVE BIRTH AGAIN!!!! The thought freaks me out! My last 4 were unasisted births. I do NOT know how I can cope with the thought of it....

Have any other moms of many had very painfull births & kept going? HOW do you do it? I'm scared! LOL

I think the best thing you can do is to make sure that the baby is in the Optimal birthing position. Check out www.spinningbabies.com
Also, I know you've educated yourself on birth or you wouldn't have had unassisted births, but for me, reading other birth stories (natural, homebirth, waterbirth...) helped me a lot to prepare each time.

And if you can do a waterbirth, THAT will help a Lot. Water is "nature's epidural". It's amazing how it helps. I had one home water birth where my baby was posterior and never flexed his neck. I had to birth the full circumference of his head (ouch) but since I was in the water I only ended up with a "skidmark" the midwife called it. I can't even imagine how painful that birth would have been had I tried to birth him on the bed/floor.

HTH~

Thanks so much for all of the advice. Unfortunately....

My posterior babies were my least painful births. My last was a waterbirth & was the worst of them all. I felt like my cervix was being ripped open.

Reading birth stories is what is freaking me out! LOL Reading them reminds me of what I have to go through!

(My middle child was stuck for hours while we tried to figure out how to get her out. She was finally born posterior in the caul with a HUGE head. That was not my worst birth! LOL)

I used chiropractic for pelvic seperation during my last pregnancy & it was helpful - perhaps i should look into it more next time. :)

I've been reading books like Supernatural Birth & thinking back on my pregnancies & I am feeling more hopefull that my next birth might not be so bad even though the others were. :prayer:

You said your last 4 were unassisted. Perhaps it is time for a new approach, if you did not have a doula and a midwife then maybe you would like that support.

I tried to hire a midwife the last time, as Dh was worried since I almost died during the pregnancy previous when we lost our baby midway through the pregnancy - but I have a bleeding disorder & the midwife would not take me on. So, I saw a doctor during the pregnancy, but delivered at home. :)
