I recently had my old DSLR (a Nikon D70) converted to work as a purely infrared camera. It took some fussing to get the camera and some of my lenses to focus well together, but I got it working and took it out for its first spin over the weekend.

This shot (of our town's green) shows the characteristic look of IR photos: very dark sky, bright foliage.

I like the composition of this one, but there are technical problems. The statue was badly underexposed; I lightened it, but it's very noisy.

Here are a couple from Minuteman National Historical Park. (The first is of Hartwell Tavern.)

I'm having fun.

Oh, I love IR photography! I've been meaning to get the Hoya R72 filter for a while but never got round to it.
I had a deeper IR filter installed; they say it starts transmitting around 830 nm, compared to 720 for the R72. This means I don't get any color at all: if I set the color balance right, it's just about perfectly black and white right out of the camera. But the IR effect is more pronounced.

The advantage of replacing the sensor filter with an IR filter (rather than just putting one on the camera) is that you can focus normally, assuming you manage to get the lens calibrated correctly. Also, exposure times are reasonable (although all but one of the ones I posted was shot from a tripod, I think).
