Hi friends.
Thank you for allowing me to join your community.
I turned to god when I was at my lowest not so long ago and now I'm convinced I've felt the warmth of the Holy spirit inside me.
I'm almost 40 years old and I've been a non believer my whole life until recently.
When I was at my lowest I starting reading the bible because I was desperate.
Now here I am desperate to learn more.
I want to give 100% of my soul to god and serve him the best I can, I just need some guidance on how I do that as I have no idea what I'm doing and on occasions I'm questioning my sanity.
Hope you all have a blessed day

Hello @ChristIsKing_, first off, WELCOME TO CF

Also, and far more importantly, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD :)

38 years ago (this November 2nd) I was just like you are now. The Lord had done a WONDROUS thing in my life (the most INCREDIBLE thing that has ever happened to me, by far) when I knew that He had forgiven me of all of my sins, saved me and made me one of His adopted children, but I didn't know what to do next either.

This is where the church comes in, as God never intended for any of us to lead the Christian life alone, apart from other believers. You need us, and we need you .. e.g. 1 Corinthians 12:7 :) (actually, you may want to read all of 1 Corinthians 12, especially from v4 to the end of the chapter).

Christians have always been/always will be men and women under authority, and a great part of that for us in this life is found in being under the teaching and authority of the visible church. It's also a place that helps us remember who we are, and Whom we serve, as well as a place to worship Him together, to pray together, and to support each other in the faith (which includes the difficult lives that we sometimes lead because we are Christians).

So, go find a church to have regular fellowship with other believers in, to pray and to worship Him together in, and to continually grow in your knowledge and understanding of God/His word/the faith. BTW, as a new Christian, I believe that your principal ministry going forward (for the foreseeable future) is to do just that, to sit at the Lord's feet (so to speak) and continually grow in your knowledge and understanding of Him .. e.g. Luke 10:38-42.

And keep coming here too, of course, though you may want to stay on the New Christians Board for awhile, as much of what is talked about on many of the other boards here can be pretty overwhelming at times for a new believer (and if that ever happens, and it will, just tell us, and/or your pastor, and/or your fellow believers at church what you are not sure of and we'll all do our best to help you understand :)).

Remember too that as a Christian, God has given you eternal life .. e.g. John 5:24, so if you don't understand something right away, or if you hear or read something that seems wrong to you somehow (or is in some way even upsetting to you), just write it down and set it aside until you have the time to ask us about it and look into it further, as time is actually something that you have a lot of now

Finally, you may want to listen and/or read this four-part teaching series for new believers called Spiritual Boot Camp. It takes a close look at four of our most important Christian spiritual disciplines, How to Study the Bible, How to Pray, How to Function in the Body (Fellowship) and How to Witness. Along with helping you understand these four disciplines better and how to best practice them, the series will also give you helpful and practical ways to apply them to your life (I went through this series about 35 years ago and I'm still using some of the things that I learned from it in my daily walk with Him today :)).

Just go here, scroll down a bit, and then choose one of the parts to listen to and/or read (which is always free to do online now, just FYI).

God bless you!!

--David

1 Thessalonians 5
23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body
be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

May I warmly welcome you, both as a member of these forums, and as a Christian, a believer in The Lord Jesus Christ. May I echo what St_Worm2 wrote about the importance of joining a local group of Christians, a church. Try to make sure that the church bases its beliefs and practices firmly on the bible. I have never visited these, but I have heard of Bethany Baptist Church in Swansea, website: Bethany Baptist Church | bethanybaptistswansea.co.uk and also Noddfa Evangelical Church, entry at the following directory: https://www.affinity.org.uk/churches/noddfa-evangelical-church-pontarddulais/

Welcome to the forum @ChristIsKing_ . There are all different opinions on here, doctrines, etc. But your focus should be on the local church if it is a good one and where you are fed the word of God.

Welcome, my brother.
May I ask if you had the opportunity to read, or perhaps at least skim, the entire Bible yet? I recommend it, for background fundamental knowledge of the Word is crucial to fend off the adversaries' attacks.
And, I also recommend reading up on the Westminster Confession of Faith. Westminster Confession of Faith - Wikipedia
Not that you'll agree with everything in it, of course, since I don't either. But crucial points in there are orthodox, and a lot of work from multiple men of faith have gone into it. It gives you a good perspective of things.

welcome friend,

To keep this simple and quick, focus on the words of Jesus in the first 4 books of the new testament. The most important information all christian need about Christ is in there, I am here often if you have questions.

Be blessed and welcome.

Trust that He has you in the palm of His hand. I have been walking for 53 years. There have been highs and lows, and there have been times when I thought I was alone. Think of the song "Fire and Rain." He is always there. After all the years, I know He was there during those low times. I want Him more and more. Sometimes, my heart aches for Him, my dear Lord and Savior. I can feel Him in my heart.

Hebrews 13:5 KJV
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Hi ChristisKing and welcome.

I would say that prayer is the most essential and important aspect of a Christians life. It is the air your soul needs to live.
Make sure prayer becomes part of your daily life - that essential line of communication between you and God. Nothing can replace it.

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate it.
Reading all the threads on this website has given me hope for the future.
None of my friends or family are believers so It's nice to know I have somewhere to turn ❤️

Hello again @ChristIsKing_, if you ever want to talk about your family and friends with us (about ways to perhaps share the Gospel with them, for instance), or if you ever want us pray for them (for their salvation or for some other reason), please don't hesitate to let us know (just FYI, we have a Prayer Wall here for prayer requests from our Christian members).

God bless you!!

Congrats!

A couple of pointers- make sure you read your Bible daily and ensure you go to a Bible believing church where the Gospel is preached- have fellowship with believers there too, don't be a stranger!

Pleased to meet you. Just want to echo what others have said. Find a local church to attend and get to know the people. God created us to be in communion with Him and other people. Pray and ask God for wisdom about which church is best for you and your family.

It is not about giving your whole soul to God, What God wants is for unbelievers to become believers.

So God has set up one way to do this and the good news is that is is free. When a person believes in Jesus for Eternal Life salvation, believing that Jesus is who He says He is: The Son of God/The Messiah, the resurrection and the life. When you believe this about Jesus you cross over from death to life and become a permanent born again child of God.

Then you may find proper teaching to grow into a disciple of Jesus, so you may tell other unbelievers how to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life salvation.

Welcome to CF! Our For New Christians area may be helpful to you. We also have a Looking For A Church section if you need help finding one of those.

Finally, the Ask a Chaplain section may be useful as well to get help from an "expert" if you will. May the Lord encourage your heart by surrounding you with fellow believers in Christ in real life so that you may feel less alone.
