CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hey bunnsguy, he does exist, think about it, do you honestly think we are here by accedent, no! we are here because god wanted us to be, when i am in doubt, which happens sometimes, i get to thinking, look at that bird, that butterfly, look how they are marked up so beautifully, look at the never ending sky and think "how could this all be a accedent", it cant be, you need to pray to god and ask him for the faith to believe in him, and if he doesnt give you an answer right then, then dont get upset because he doesnt always answer prayers right away, but trust me, he will never steer you wrong, god loves all of us, and we need to remember that.

Hello Bunnsguy, welcome to CF! Now to your question. One of the greatest mathematicians of our day said this, "it would be 1,000,000 to the tenth power more likely that a tornado would hit a junk yard and leave behind a perfectly functioning gold rolex watch, than for this this universe to come about by accident!" Sheesh with odds like that, I think you are safe to know God indeed exists. God states in His Word that it is only the fool that says to himself God doesn't exist. I didn't say that, God did. Even the demons know that God exists!
As to getting to know Him personally, ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you just as the wisdom already given you has mentioned. READ HIS HOLY WORD!!! If it seems confusing, stop and ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten the Word to your heart. This is the key to unlocking the scriptures. I've know two atheists that read the Bible from cover to cover and never got anything out of it. smile. Ofcourse not, that's not the way you read His Word!
Also try to find someone who is a believer and be a FRUIT inspector!!! By that I mean, look closely at their life. Do they practice what they preach? Do they love people and conduct themselves with love? Do their eyes sparkle with life and joy? The Christian will because knowing Jesus makes you different! Then you can mentor under someone like this but even then remember this is only a man, men can be fallible and be tempted. Always put your ultimate faith in Jesus and keep a time to fellowship with Him everyday if you can. Jesus is the author of our faith. If He has called you, there is great purpose in your life to be fullfilled! Rejoice and embrace His goodness!
YOU also have this forum now where you can come and discuss things with other mature Christians. Some of us have been through the fire and come out singing!

Exactly, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Start reading the New Testament, pray and fellowship with other believers.Just be careful of the 'religions' that tell you salvation isn't necessary, it is, and thats all there is to it!!
