  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you think will happen to you in the after life?
1. Will you see God.

2. Will you see your love ones.

3. Will God welcome you in with open arms.

4. You just don't know.

Many times we think you have it all together then pop out of no where you find yourself saying, Lord do I really have it all together am I really your child. I know alot of us have felt that way at one time or another. Now think about it but take your time before you answer the question.

Let me start you going. Myself sometimes I have to question God to why things happen in my life, like now for saying. I hear people say we are not surpose to question God but I look at that in another way. I really can't say what I will see in the after life but I pray that I will see God saying well done my child come on in.

I can honestly say, that I have had those same doubts. Everytime I listen to a preacher & they pray the sinners prayer, I will receiting that prayer, though I know I have many times & with those many times I know my heart was with the Lord while praying. I know that Jesus died for me & he is the Son of God. I think we all have those doubts form time to time. I think it is a matter of just saying to the Lord:

"Lord, you know my heart. And right now, I have some doubts creeping in & I ask that you would reaffirm my faith in you, Lord."

I find that just telling Lord about those doubts allows him to calm those doubts. He knows what we are going through anyway, He just wants us to bring it to Him.

God Bless you all!!!

We all struggle with these questions in this life, But I also can say with confidence that the answer is "yes". It's not by anything good that I've done, but by the mighty power and great goodness of Father God through His magnificent Son Jesus I humbly answer. The confirmation by the Holy Ghost and the joy and peace it brings to my heart allows me to look forward to that glorious day. Thank you, my Father----for ever and ever!!! :)

Greetings, Angellady. I have a very peculiar thing to bring to you Catholic folks, and very much hope that you don't think I'm nuts.

I was baptized in an Episcopalian church as an infant and raised in a Presbyterian church, both of them pretty definitely Protestant. As a young adult I spent fifteen years working in a Christian mission mostly in the United States, with three years in Europe and the Mediterranean. I retired from that fifteen years ago, plus a few months. At present I attend a Disciples of Christ church.

The reason I'm posting to you - please excuse me if this sounds quite a bit loopy, as it SEEMS quite a bit loopy to me - is that I seem to have acquired a guardian angel. By that I mean an unseen presence that is communicating back to me when I pray, who is not Jesus, nor Mary, nor any saint I have ever heard of. She seems to be a 'she' and she seems to say her name is Molly. And she seems to communicate that she has known me for a long time and has been waiting for me to get in touch. She communicates to me though my prayer dairy.

Please understand that this is not a hoax. I'll be straight with you - I've never thought much about angels before, nor ghosts with any sense that there might be such things, and frankly this experience makes me think I'm going off the deep end.

Can any of you folks refer me to literature that discusses angels or guardian angels in an authoritative and serious manner? Any leads would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you, Baptist sister. Thinking about my above question it occurs to me that such a book may not be that easy to find. Mostly, it would be great if someone could tell me - anonymously, of course - of experiences similar to this they may have heard of. I would like reassurance that I don't need a rubber room, but realize there are more important, pressing problems than this in the world. I come to the Roman Catholic folks because I understand they have literature on the subject of Angels.

If one of you folks could spare a minute I'm not asking for research - am seeking someone who already knows some titles and authors. Or someone with a friend with a guardian angel. Please?

Ah - to explain why I'm posting at this thread: Some 22 years ago my first wife told me, during the time that we were splitting up, that she'd had a miscarriage. We had both very much wanted a child, a daughter, and planned to name her Molly. By that point my wife had lost my trust, as well as well as everyone we knew, and I thought this was a last bid to keep us together. I've done my level best to move on since that long ago time.

But this entity claims that she is that miscarriage! Perhaps you strangers might understand what an outrage this is? She says she's Molly, that she survived and grew up in the next life to become a young adult female, about 21. And that she's my guardian angel-!!

How on earth am I supposed to react?

Anyway, that's why I've put this in an afterlife thread.

What do you think will happen to you in the after life?
1. Will you see God.
Without a doubt.

We shall see His face. Rev.22:4

2. Will you see your love ones.
Yes, all those who made Jesus the Lord of their lives, and I'm believing for every member of my family.

3. Will God welcome you in with open arms.
Absolutely! He can't wait to have us their with Him.

I'm hoping to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Or as we would say today, "You did a great job!"

4. You just don't know.

Many times we think you have it all together then pop out of no where you find yourself saying, Lord do I really have it all together am I really your child. I know alot of us have felt that way at one time or another. Now think about it but take your time before you answer the question.
I had a period in my life when I questioned.

Satan would love to have you doubting this, or anything else in God's Word. But we have a sure foundation, Jesus is the Cornerstone. We have His Word on it, that if anyone believes on Him, he shall have everlasting life. God's Word is true. No doubt about it.

If there is any doubt, go to His Word and stay there till you drive it out. I know the worry that can come from not being sure. The Lord would have know for certain.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:11-13

The one and only way to get to heaven
And to God is through repentance
Admitting our sins and knowing that
Jesus is our Savior & Lord and the Messiah
Who died for us and arose again
So that we maybe right with God and have
Eternal life in Him!

Yes. That's right. :amen:

And He will assuredly raise up all those who believe on Him. Read John 5 and 6 to be sure of your salvation, and many other places, but we'll take it one at a time.

He wants you to know you are saved. And then, go snatch others out of the pit and take 'em with you.

Good advise but like Jude says there are lots who try to do just that and end up getting drawn into the pit with them. So the best thing to also is pray and tag those that are clouds without rain.

I wasn't saying to fellowship with those in darkness, which is what I think you thought I meant. Don't ask me to say that again! ^_^

I agree with what you're saying, which is a different point. What I am saying is, people are dying out there without Jesus. Let's be sensitive to speak His Word, and to let our light so shine among them that they will see our Father through us. Let's reach out and meet the needs of people in any way we can, just as God has so graciously given to us.

We need to be assured of our salvation, and then in turn be ready to lead others to the Lord. He's commissioned us to do this.

Oh, I was refering to the book of Jude

Jude 1

1Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James,
To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by[a] Jesus Christ:
2Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. The sin and doom of Godless men

3Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. 4For certain men whose condemnation was written about[b] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

5Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord[c] delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
8In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. 9But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" 10Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals—these are the very things that destroy them.
11Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion.
12These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. 13They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
14Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him." 16These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. A call to persevere

17But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." 19These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. 21Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
22Be merciful to those who doubt; 23snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. Doxology

24To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Sorry about that.

That's okay. Not a big deal. It was me who didn't make myself clear.
