  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well i'll admit, its not the pure symbolizm, some of it is material. I see guys that I play pool with and they have tattoos on their forarms and I think they look way rad, so yeah I admired that, and wanted something like it of my own. Of course I have to deal with it FOREVER so I chose one that I thought looked cool and held meaning for me. However, that it advertises my faith is just a bonus, the best part is it looks tough :)

I hope that bit in the bible about not cutting your flesh doesn't apply to tattoos. I know people have different interpretations of that (surprise surprise) but if your wrong, and ignoring that command for vanity-sin purposes, you and a bunch of others are gunna have sum splainin' to do. :)

Who cares what "the Christian Community" thinks about it? If you want to get the tattoo, get (and keep) the tattoo. This world would be a much better place if people would just follow their bliss and not worry about what other people think about what they do (as long as it's legal and doesn't hurt anyone else). If "they" don't like it... it's their problem, not yours.

Hey, my (Christian) mom finally saw my Wiccan altar last time she was in my apartment... she still loves me!

I say and do whatever I want to, within reason/legality. *I* live my life; other people don't live my life. If I had to consider the effect of my words and actions on other people around me, I'd sit quietly with my hands in my lap the rest of my life, and I'm just NOT that type of gal. Especially judging by the number of CF posts of mine that have been deleted/reported.

I think it is a valid concern. People should consider the opinions of the community they are in and then come to a decision. Man is not an island and everything we do reverberates through a community.

People need to act honorably for their community and society or risk a bad reputation.

The world would be a better place if people thought of others more than they do now.

People should consider the opinions of the community they are in and then come to a decision.

Why? When did the community ever care about your opinion?

Man is not an island and everything we do reverberates through a community.

That man is not an island doesn't mean that there is no room for an individuality and self-expression that doesn't depend on asking someone for permission. We are talking about a tattoo, not a right to become a vigilante or a catburglar.

People need to act honorably for their community and society or risk a bad reputation.

It is better to take a bad reputation than to be a sheep.

The world would be a better place if people thought of others more than they do now.

No, the situation is just the opposite. Most people care too much about what others think, and live frightened lives trying to live up to their expectations. The world would be a better place where ethical individuals are unafraid to be themselves. This adds to the vitality of communities.

When I see a car with a Christian fish

I was on CafePress a while ago, and I saw a really neat saying in the Pagan/Wicca section. It said "My cat ate your fish." ^_^ You could get it on bumper stickers or shirts.

OK, who or what is this "community" you keep mentioning in your posts? I live in an inner-city neighborhood and people (outside of Neighborhood Watch) pretty much keep themselves to themselves (which is as it should be unless someone is insisting on breaking the law). So whose opinions should I be worried about here?

The world would be a better place if people kept their noses out of other peoples' lives when they are not wanted or invited in. The last thing we all need is a world that functions like Peyton Place, with all the idle gossip and malicious meddling in the affairs of others.

Heh, this is my community here on christian forums, I pray here just about every day, and I care what you guys think even if I don't always agree with it. I also care in the future if certain christian people would take offense to my tattoo and if it would hurt my credibility with them. I do not lie in bed paralyzed by these concerns, or fret over them much at all, but I admit i care what others think. Certainly I do not care what EVERYONE thinks.... but I think anyone to a point chooses people in which he gives credense to their oppinions, and for certain situations maybe you have certain people.

Anyhow this is all way too deep for a silly tattoo post, time to troll the theology board some more.
