Forgive me but I am purposly going to stir you up for the sole reason of provoking thought, prayer and insite......

But if it is ok to see and play games that depict the act of killing people (which is wrong according to the bible... the act that is)....

...is it ok to play games that depict the act of people having sex outside of marridge?

Same question could be asked of videos.....

Actually, the commandment is You shall not murder which is not the same as You shall not kill the translation is just a little general. If killing was entirely wrong, the scriptures would reflect this, yet it is full of war from beginning to end. God raises up warriors. Unfortunately, this view is often distorted and I would guess with good reason. If the Devil can convince the people of God that killing and defense is wrong then the Devil can murder them all.

Proverbs 23:7 For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he
I think that says a lot for games like going postal or Diablo among many. What do you fill your heart with? If you fill your heart with the word of God then that is what you think and that is who you are. If you fill your heart with the occult, sex and murder then who are you?

Would it be more valuable to claim of the most excellent works that God has done to your life, such as feeding orphans or whatever, or is it more glorifying to boast in the fact that you can play the Nightmare level in Diablo the game? Would you tell a man that he is wrong for mentioning the works (apart from salvation) that God is doing in his life (to the glory of God) yet glorify a man for boasting in his skill of playing Diablo? No this is not directed at you nor anyone in particular.

I marvel that that game is popular. Why on God's green earth would I want to play a sim of real life? I play games to take a break from real life.
Anyway...
I don't watch TV or play games with sexual themes.
Sex in video games...that's just dumb.

Play any video game that you wish except those that are Adults only. And play only games that you feel that you should play. IF you think playing games with killing is wrong, then don't play it. Play what you feel like playing, just NEVER EVER do the things that are done in video games, just play for entertainment and fun. But play the stuff your comfortable playing, and always be sure that you know the game is fake, and has nothing to do with real life.

And you have scripture to back up your view? I would like to see these references. Basically you are saying to do anything that seems right in your own eye except for something like pornography.

And since a game can deliver pornography, is it capable of delivering other things rejected by God?

Ever played with action figures as a child? Notice how you kill the bad guys with superman by knocking them off building, bashing into them, or smashing them with a huge piece of plastic shrapnel? It the same as playing a videogame, except a videogame is depicted by a TV. Remember, TV is not satan, neither is the light your eyes decipher as a dying human being.

It's all in your head, your killing no one, your doing nothing wrong, so just relax.

I find violent videogames to be a great stress reliever. Nothing calms me down more than mowing down a squad of covenant baddies with the warthog chaingun in Halo.

Christians are commanded to set their minds on heavenly things.
Colossians 3:2 - Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

Christians should replace fleshly thoughts with spiritual thoughts.
Romans 8:5 - For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

You cant just stop thinking sinful thoughts, you have to replace sinful thoughts with spiritual thoughts.The Bible commands us to resist the devil. To resist the devil is a spiritual battle and most spiritual battles are fought in our minds.

Hmm, thats strange, ive been watching tv youd call "bad", playing violent videogames, etc etc, yet im a non violent person who trys to keep to his morals. I dont have daily sex with multiple people, I dont look at porn, dont accept bribes, etc etc.

ya, because all christians are free of any wrongdoings whatsoever. If anything dude, the world is far better than it was centuries ago. Women have rights, we are able to live longer and treat diseases, slavery is almost nonexistant, education is being spread throughout the world, quality of life has gone up, etc. Go live in the 1500's, and then tell me how horrible the 21'st century is.

^Hey, promote the "devil" all you want, but you can never deny the much larger part of the world, a positive one. Don't rely on TV for your life's directions, it's got plenty of greedy men making lots of money off sex scandles. No, I'm not blaming Larry King or any other news reporter/politition etc., but our own foolishness. Your day has more good than bad, it's all how you view it, not conceive or at times understand it.

Yes the world is evil and it is getting worse exceedingly fast. Of course my list is far shorter than what I could have listed but some view that some video games can easily fit into that list. Video games are not the source of these things happening to the world but are just a part of the cause.

Even if the non-believer were to turn from these games, he/she would fall to any of the other evil things of this world just the same. The only true freedom from the influences of these things is to admit that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23), repent (turn from) your sinful way (mark 1:14-15) confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9) and follow Him (john 14:23-24).

This is not a long process but can be done this moment by simply turning to God and saying something like this with a sincere heart: Lord, Thank you for sending your Son to die for me and rise again. I ask that Jesus come into my life and save me so that I might live with you forever.

Once you do that you really need to let other Christians know that you made this decision. Not as anonymously over the Internet but with Christians in your area who know you or will know you as you grow in your relationship with God. (1 Timothy 6:12) (James 5:16) (Hebrews 10:24-25)

You guys can dish it out but cant take it at all. You guys want to shut me up for speaking the Gospel to the un-saved and my questioning of these games in light of scriptures. Im not ashamed of the gospel and I will need to be banned from these forums to shut me up about it (been banned in non-Christian forums before). When I feel moved to the words I shall say them, I am well known for this.

Still yet Ive only questioned these games but Im seeing now how wrong they are just by the actions here by non-Christians and some Christians alike. This is the fruit of these games. My position is changing now for the better. Time to dump some junk in the trash can.
