New Restriction: Posting External Links and Images

Effective immediately, the following posting restrictions will apply:

Posting External Links:
Members will need to have a post count of 15 or more. If the site is owned or related to the member, then the member can only post it in the Favorite Web Links forum.
No links to a member's own site is allowed in signatures. Such links are allowed in the member's CF homepage or CF profile.

Posting Images (whether it is an attachment or remote):
Members will need to have a post count of 100 or more. This applies to our Photo Gallery as well.


This is to reduce the incidence of spam and trolling. Thank you for your understanding. These restrictions are automatic and built-into the site. Site Supporters are exempt from these restrictions.

Well it seems I did read the rules & they said no trolling or spamming but I didn't see an explanation of what it is. The longer I hang around here the less friendly it seems... thanks

i think trolling is either posting mean one liners everywhere you go or just reading and never posting... i have seen troll used both ways in various forums

Guess I wasn't reading the right things cuz it was there:

Rule No. 2 - No "Trolling"

2) You will not post any topic that disrupts the peace and harmony of this forum. This will include any new user with less than 50 posts starting a "discretional" topic - i.e. a topic not suitable for children. This will also include posts that put down Christianity in general or any posts considered as blasphemy by staff (this is a CHRISTIAN FORUMS site), or posts that put down another Christian group or denomination. This includes links to websites in profiles and signatures. You will not post new threads for the sole purpose of soliciting requests for prophecies

You see what it syas is #2 No trolling, but I didn't realize you should click on it to get the definition, I thought everyone but me knew what that was, but I will say if someone asks like I did it might be nicer seeming if you just told them if you know or say I'm not sure & tell them how to find it. Just a suggestion cuz I really was put off by your answer & my feelings were hurt -thinking "Boy I really am stupid!" My emotions happen to be a litlle close to the surface today but if someone else was feeling like me, maybe they wouldn't ever come back and wouldn't that be a shame? You may be the only words from the Lord someone ever hears or hears for the first time.

We recently had people who register for the sole purpose of posting very offensive pornographic pictures at CF. Luckily for us, our moderators banned these people after 5 of such images were posted. That was 5 too many. To prevent this from happening, we have introduced these restrictions.

Erwin-There are people in this world who get their kicks pulling wings off flies & hurting defenseless creatures & abusing others-seems to me they are morally wounded and we know who the author of that wounding is, and he'll get his in the end. But the trolls aren't beyond His reach & I guess I'll have to pray for them!

I fully understand the senxse behnd the no trolling/no spamming rule -- regardless of what someone's particular agenda item or business or church affiliation, having that posted at every conceivable opportunity is obnoxious. But I see two gray areas needing clarification:

1. Some of us (I'd guess a large proportion) are members or even on staff at other message boards, some Christian, some not. Where a significant thread with useful information exists elsewhere that is likely to be of interest or help to someone with a question here, would it be appropriate to post a link to it, even if you are affiliated wth it in a volunteer status?

2. Denominational or diocesan/synod websites are likely to have information of value to a thread. E.g., if somebody wanted to know the Assembly of God's stance on a spritual gift, or it became important to cite the actual Catholic Church teaching on, say, Purgatory (to give an example I know Wolseley's fingers must be sore from repeating), would such links be acceptable as information sources, even if to your own (denominational) church?

My guess is that they both would be fine, not considered spamming. But they do seem to fall under your stated definition, so it seems the wise course to make sure my assumption is accurate.
