Pope Francis of Buenos Aires, Brazil. Could you imagine a Pope converting and siding with the Reformation? Would be a sight. We should all pray for him.

I would expect there to be a lot more sedevacantist groups if that happened

An interesting quote from Pope Francis' Inaugural Mass. He quoted John Paul II-

“Just as Saint Joseph took loving care of Mary and gladly dedicated himself to Jesus Christ’s upbringing, he likewise watches over and protects Christ’s Mystical Body, the Church, of which the Virgin Mary is the exemplar and model”

That's about the most idiotic thing I think I've ever heard...

Exactly, from this papists prayer: "that she may watch over all of Rome." Wonder twin powers activate.

hehe. Ya. Unfortunately Rome thinks they are the only ones with the rights to interpret Scripture. As though it isn't clear enough for the average man to understand.

<Staff Delete>

2 or 3 people with a Bible in their hands and among them them, they vote who is going to be the minsters of their brand new congregation. The winner of the votes became the minster and that minister ordained more ministers. Thats how ordinations work.
The Apostolic secessions had been broken too many times and their still bickering about who came first.

The new congregation continued to worship faithfully and grew.

Please discuss, here, how a church ordains ministers so we can all learn from each other. We don't have time to debate Apostolic secessions and robs us away from worship.

right?

Titus 1:5 notwithstanding it isn't churches who ordain ministers it is Christ. Men make other men pastors and when they do it always results in the man being a goatherder not a shepherd. A man who is called of God as a preacher of the Gospel or pastor has his gifts recognized by other believers to be sure. But it is Christ who gives him opportunity to preach and puts him in the pastorate where He has ordained him to lead. If a man has to look for a place to preach he isn't called. If he has to send out resumes or seek the pastorate as he would any other job then he isn't called.

When a man is called and gifted of Christ then he is put where Christ would have him and they recognize him as their gift from Christ to His church.

(...Wonder twins...^_^)

This is from his first address to the "people of the world"...I found it saddening because Pope Francis had this God given platform. The "entire world", as the media likes to say, was watching and their was no mention of salvation through Christ. UNLESS, I missed something-which anyone can bring to my attention-that would be fine with me. He did (according to npr.org-that's where I found the transcript) say the Our Father, the Glory Be and Hail Mary, but the very short main text of his speech was about himself and the Roman Catholics of the world praying for mutual love and that the world may have a sense of brotherhood eeer sumthin. It was short. Here is a summary interpreted by me (Oops I'm not a priest)-

"Blah blah blah blah...nothing about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...blah blah blah...something about "the Church of Rome" presiding over all the Churches...blah ablah ablah....still nothing about Christ dying on the cross to save us from our sins...and then he ends with these comforting words-

"Brothers and sisters, I am leaving you. Thank you for your welcome. Pray for me and I will be with you again soon. We will see one another soon. Tomorrow I want to go to pray the Madonna, that she may protect Rome. Good night and sleep well!" (and those were HIS words, not my interpretation)

I think Spurgeon wanted to give more flexibility on ordinations like you did.
